They are well established shrubs piskie and very pretty. The birds here have eaten all my berries. My shrubs are still full of berries ... I wonder if there's enough food in the hedgerows for the birds this winter, since it's been very mild.

I did spot a black bird munching on the berries the other day, by the time I'd got my camera he'd flown off with full tum

Thanks, piskie - I shall have a try. I have some winter Aconites just appearing - I don't usually get them to establish, so I'm really pleased to see them! And the first flower on one of my Pulmonarias - very early. So is the Chaenomeles on the fence!!

Very pretty white chaenomeles Geranium , much more sophisticated looking than the orangey-red one I have! I went out to look if any of my aconitums were coming up Cherry but couldn't see any but I did find the first clump of snowdrops starting to flower & lots of buds on my main clump of hellebores.

Thank you. I'm hoping to train the Chaenomeles along the fence, but it's not very big yet. I planted it last year when the pear tree died. I love Hellebores, SueA. I daren't go to the GC at the moment - far too tempting! 'Winter Moonbeam' is flowering in my blue pot. Such a joy! The buds and reverse of the flower are a lovely pink.

All these early spring flowers have a freshness and elegance. They are lovely SueA and Geranium. SueA the Aconitum carmichaelii is probably one of the latest flowers in the garden. The early summer variety is showing neat little leaves now. I don't know what mine is called.

Thanks Cherry , I was wondering about the aconitums because you'd said yours were coming up. I've got lots of stems/leaves of spring flowers coming up but a few things have already been nibbled by slugs & snails, it's been so mild that they seem to have stayed active most of the winter so far!

You have a lot of lovely succulents, @hywel - I think you're the forum specialist in that area! I have a house plant which I think is a Crassula - would you be able to ID it if I post a photo?

Thank you Geranium and Cherry I don't think of myself as an expert, but I have been collecting these plants for many years, so I must know a thing or two about them.
I will try to identify your succulent, Geranium.

Here are some photos of Sedum palmeri. It's a cascading succulent plant, which is quite hardy ... although I keep it in shelter just incase It flowers in the winter, and is now full of buds opening slowly.
