Lovely pics., I really like erythroniums & pulsatillas but they always die off & never come back for me so I've given up on them.

Wow Sue, pulsatillas are one of the toughest things in my garden, when everything else gives up they keep going. These are not stunning flowers but they are significant, this is the first blossom on my fruit trees, this is the plum.

It does seem true a harsh winter is good for blossom, I have peach plum pear and cherry all budding up nicely

It does seem true a harsh winter is good for blossom, I have peach plum pear and cherry all budding up nicely I've been thinking this to myself lately, everything that has a flower on it at the moment looks far better than in previous years - even the humble forsythias look amazing at the moment !

Steve and Louise, I think you might be right. There is probably a scientific reason for this, but my plums and flowering cherry are amazing and the hedgerows are covered in blackthorn blossom. They scent the air beautifully.

I thought my plum tree was the first to flower but I spotted a wild damson in full bloom today. It is growing in the hedge in the orchard. I love the flavour of wild damsons.
