Very hot & some of the plants are flagging in the sun, lots of the roses have been having a rest but just starting to come back into flower again:- Velvety 'Ruby Wedding' - it's our anniversary today (only 37 years not Ruby yet!) Plenty of bees around on the primulas etc. & they're loving the clover on the lawn as I'm not mowing it in the heat:- Lilies coming out as well now:- & irises by the pond:- & some pretty penstemons dotted around the borders:-

A bit parched, but we do get very heavy dews here so it keeps the moss green for a while. imgur.com/a/g3GSeEe

You were a child bride too grindle! Your garden still looks lovely in the heat Geumlover & your sunbathing pussycat, you have some pretty roses as well despite you not being too fond of them!

Yes, we fell for the Rose con trick when we first began this garden. They get one chance, scratch me and out they go. Trouble is that Rambling Rector is now massive. The other white tree top rose is not actually in the garden. It is a briar in the hedge row outside.

I love our roses Geumlover despite the scratches, blackspot, aphids, rose sawfly larvae, dead-heading, dropping in the sun, rotting in the rain - perhaps you have a point! Harry Wheatcroft rose Patio flirt rose Hot Chocolate rose Blue Eyes rose Rock & roll rose Day lilies Zantedeschia finally flowering & the little black & yellow ladybird on it:- Acanthus spinosus, bought recently & one for Bess, the little resin tortoise I got recently as well, guarding some lettuce & strawberries!

Thank you SueA I didn't show any of the things that are shrivelling up lol I think the well established plants have roots that go down far enough to find water.
