Steve sent me some seeds of this unusual curcubit. Probably sown a bit late but they are making up for it!

It will be interesting to see how they perform. Steve (t'other one ;D) sent me some last year. They grew like billyo but didn't fruit.(can't even remember if they flowered )...think they may be a bit tender up here; I could try one in the polytunnel next year.....that is if you can let me have some seed as well!! ;D

I'd be a bit worried that they're contagious..........."Pepo" ;D The flowers are unisexual, with male and female flowers on different plants (dioecious) or on the same plant (monoecious). The female flowers have inferior ovaries. The fruit is often a kind of modified berry called a pepo.

Picture taken about a week ago. They are a lot bigger now. Very fast growing and flowers already developing fast with tiny fruits pre-formed behind the female ones!

Indeed, a curcurbit, though not specifically a cucumber.

Indeed, a curcurbit, though not specifically a cucumber. ... Perhaps not.....but most of us would be more familiar with the "cucumber" image...
