Hi Folks Do any of you keep in touch with Ron Crowe or Lin Ashcroft ? If so, it would be worth mentioning that their email addresses have been hacked and i'm getting spam emails from their accounts.

Great news Louise. My brain has been away from normal British style gardening for a long time now as I set up a garden in the tropics, so a quiz would be hard work now. Great to have you back. Cherry, that was a surprise, to hear you'd moved back, is hubby coping with the extreme heat ? What kind of challenges are there with tropical gardens ?

Great news Louise. My brain has been away from normal British style gardening for a long time now as I set up a garden in the tropics, so a quiz would be hard work now. Great to have you back. If you recall Cherry the answer was often 'A Parsnip' Cherry, that was a surprise, how is hubby dealing with the tropical climate - he wasn't Australian was he ? You'll have different challenges there won't you, what are the annoyances of tropical gardening versus English ones ?

Sue, Sweetpea …….. I think Lou's probably nailed it …. Because the gardens around here are on sand I suspect it's going to be a type of grass that's found in/on dunes as over the road are the dunes ! Sweetpea…… no, to your query, these were here before I moved in. I'm forever pulling these damn things out, they are clearly liking the place and wanting to live here - which they're not going to !

….. this 'grass' grows all over my garden, I clear the area and back it comes ….. eventually gets about 8" tall and clumps-up and forms quite a tight root, I've not had this is any previous garden.

yahoo! So good to have you back Cora. I'll have to pop down for another hug sorry to hear about the puss. we have had gains and losses here too. life I suppose. Trying to think when I saw you last reckon it must have been around October 2008? Fancy doing the old quiz again? Bit of a laugh that on a Thursday night as some of us here will remember. Take it easy in the garden and enjoy. Funny you should say about the quiz, Jim, I only thought of it yesterday ….. it was a laugh wasn't it, i'll give it some thought

So here I am, years later, popping up like I was never gone I am still in Somerset but now live by the beach - one road away to be precise ! In April '17 I moved to a smaller property, much smaller town, and into a much larger garden and ………… I should have done it years ago I absolutely love it here, love my bungalow, my neighbours are even better than the ones I left, the town is quiet and peaceful, and business-wise life is busy ….. all in all, one very happy Louise Garden-wise, I am on sand …..what an absolute joy this is to dig, sooooo much easier than that poor, thin, stoney, soil from before, I inherited a few shrubs and trees and about 80' of Equisetum, that's Mares Tail to you and I A couple of hundred pounds worth of Resolva later it had died back, by later that summer, I anticipated 'Round 2' in the spring but have been very, very, pleasantly surprised that a) there's not much at all, and b) what is coming through is weak and spindly, I expect by this time next year to see very few babies appearing but will allways have a stock of weedkiller at hand Of course, what doesn't help is having a neighbour that ignores it in their own garden Pusscat-wise, I just have 1 now. My beautiful little Mads left us 2 years ago and it broke me into a million pieces, now i'm left with Millie, who's finally calling this new home and garden 'hers', what with losing Mads, moving house, and then tradesmen traipsing in and out for a few months, she has not done well at all and at 16 years old she didn't all this going on really. The garden is divided into different areas, a few patios, lots of seating areas, a courtyard garden (gravel and pots) and a shrubbery area at the very bottom/back - this area I have planted up now and that will be left to do its own thing. I have no intention of becoming a slave to it, as in the past, and view it as an area to just relax in, pure and simple, - my working week is a 5 day one and every day is jam-packed, I could actually do with a 6th weekday ….. my days of working weekends are long gone so 5 mental days it is I'm now going to sign off in favour of a gin & tonic ….. cheers
