Its been a long miserable day today; no pottering in the garden. Its like November out there and has been raining most of the day. The sun managed a 5 second wink about 4pm and then closed in again with heavy mist over the sea. I must confess I had the heating on for half an hour earlier this afternoon

I don't bother checking temps...just know its hot!! decided not to work at The Alnwick Garden today....3 hours in a polytunnel does not appeal. Keeping blinds closed in an effort to keep the house cool. Am about to put the awning over the patio down, this will keep the kitchen cooler. All I have to do now is sit under said awning with my kindle and a cold drink....that's today sorted! Hope you all have a good one

What is that funny line on my avatar, which grindle put on for me many years ago? I hope it goes when I post this time. If not, where are you Grindle? Wasn't it Rosie or Steve?

Most things will grow if you "feed" them

Can I recommend Richard Jackson's slug pellets.....animal and insect friendly. After one application the SAS have all disappeared, even tho we've had warm and wet weather...

As the morning was fine and bright, I managed to finish the new edging in the front garden. I miscalculated how much I needed and had to order more! I was about 3" short..grrrr…. it doesn't really matter as it is against the path and the phox plants I have there will soon cover the edge. I'm very pleased with it, it looks very smart and won't need replacing (well not in my lifetime!..lol. I got it from Greenfingers and it is made out of recycled tires.

Does no harm to have a change. I like Chempak or Vitax as an alternative to Tomorite
