It was really hot at my son’s farm yesterday. Today is overcast, but not cold and no wind.

It was bitterly cold yesterday, but the sun today makes me feel warmer, even though it is still cold.

It won’t like that SueA. You can only give it your best effort and soil.

seaburn you were right to let Parkers know this. Well, they were so bad you had to really. My son’s friend works for Norfolk Quality Plants and tests out the delivery drivers, using my son as the recipient, for quality and speed of delivery.

Basil cuttings root into water! SueA I didn’t know that. Here is a wee story if you have time to read it. While I rented my house, I started a lot of plants on my patio. Some were lost to the heat in that small space and the wind which could not escape out of the tall fence. I watched a quince tree at my local garden centre/tool store and for 3 years it stayed there with no-one interested in buying it. The 2 main branches crossed and faced the same way presenting to the sun and it always had leaves. When I bought my house in October, I offered £10 for the tree, including delivery and dumped the pot on the soil while waiting for a garden to be developed. I cut the offending branch down to about 4 inches from the trunk, which would be about 3.5 feet from the ground, and it has sprouted new growth, so it had a good hormone reaction which I did not expect. Well, this year it has flowered and the blossoms are like small magnolias or tulips and the light green leaves have a downward habit which leave the beautiful flowers clear to be admired. I have a feeling the roots have grown through the pot, but will have to move it when the gardener comes, possibly on Thursday. I really love this tree which was so badly neglected and hope the quinces develop over the summer. Wish me luck in moving it to its permanent position. I will have a saw ready in case it has rooted through the drainage holes and I need to cut the pot.
