A small tit like bird with a chestnut breast hits my kitchen window and tries to climb up. It is quite upsetting and I have tried moving a plant to the shelf there to give a more solid background to the clear glass. I don’t know what else I should do.

I am getting quite fed up with the wind. I think I said this before, but it has been the story here for weeks. It makes dry seem even drier.

Beautiful sunny weather, but a bit breezy. We have had a lot of wind for a few months.

Potting on as the roots of my waiting shrubs fill the pots, making the foliage go limp. I wish the gardener would hurry up.

Everyone likes a bargain balc2 and that was a particularly good one. Would ferns and ivy work on the balcony?

Very warm and sunny yesterday. SueA you keep taking the rain for yourself. You might share it with us down in Norfolk.

I worked at the farm yesterday and got quite hot. Geoffrey has turned some mown grass and leaves from years ago and it is really lovely rich compost now. He used his digger with a scoop on the front, not a spade and barrow. I spread some of this on the borders. I lifted my Trillium which I brought from Scotland on the train about 7 years ago, found and took back my Solomon’s Seal from the shade garden. This garden loved the loads of compost.
Meantime, I am still waiting for a gardener, but if I waited any longer the plants would be more difficult to move. I need construction work done here, as it is just a gravel garden at the front and simply nothing but a patio at the back.
