Popped into Wilkinsons to get paint for front door and (like you do) checked the small area with plants. I spotted this little furry thing in the reduced section for ยฃ2 so snapped it up. Gynura 'Purple Pashion'. The plant us completely covered in soft purple hairs. Its a close relative of Groundsel and the orange flowers look similar (if more showy) but it's the hairyness it's grown for.

The Hoya with no name is not Hoya carnosa. It has typical spotted leaves, but they are longer and on a stronger, thicker stem. I donโt know what this one is called and have never seen a flower on it in Queensland. This is the one I offered, but it is not as tidy as Hoya carnosa. Donโt worry. I will give it longer and see if it flowers. I must have mis-read your post Cherry. Sound very much like Hoya pubicalix which I have (or at least one form of it). It does run all over the place. Mine hasn't flowered yet either. I'm hoping it's the variety 'Hawaiian Purple' which is stunning! Only had mine two years so hoping...

Hoya 'Mathilde' (pronounced Matilda) has really put on loads of growth from the tiny two leaf cutting I bought last year! Not only that, there are at least 15 flower peduncles. It's going to be a veritable waterfall of flowers!

Lovely place that really brings back memories. Parents visited with me when I was about twelve! There used to be two giant specimens of a particular sub-species of Cider Gum there (Eucalyptus gunnii var. Whittinghamensis), the only ones in the country of that type. I believe they were blown over in "the great storm" Michael Fish said wasn't going to happen.

Hoya memoria in my collection flowering now. Great plant as its compact and very easy to grow. It has small pink flowers which open fully with reflexed petals. The strong caramel scent is produced during the day rather than at night so it's pollinator in the wild won't be a moth. Here's a few pictures of its flowers.

Used my hori hori a lot yesterday for trimming turf to an even thickness. Obviously the piece of turf in picture is half done. Worked perfectly!

Spent all day yesterday helping parent's in their garden. Dad has been removing the last of the Leylandii hedge they planted over 30 years ago and is now building brick piers between the future fence panels. Not bad for an 82 year old! Mum also working in front garden clearing part of a bed to be turfed. I'm in the back removing turf with my spade after having cut area with half moon. This is going to be a brick path 25 ft long and 3ft 6" wide. Managed to remove all the turf and trim to even thickness in about five hours. I can feel it this morning!

Bought myself a named Pomegranate ('Dente di Cavallo') and a Calycanthus 'Venus'.
All the Pomegranate seedlings I grew from seed from a shop bought fruit last year have survived the winter with flying colours too, both those planted in the ground, and those in small pots even though frozen solid at times. Proof that they are very hardy!

I had the first of mine (Phizer) nearly a fortnight ago. All the hair on my head has grown back! Can't wait to see what happens with the second!! ๐๐คฃ
