What a lovely collection. I think I'm going to get some Rebutia seeds as I've heard they can flower relatively quickly. That R. senilis has stunning golden flowers 😍

Good morning. Was hoping to get in the garden but rain will probably stop play.

What`s with the knives? Surely that is not acceptable? The garden knives (hori hori)? Great for weeding👍🏻

I've changed my name back to Fractal (my original forum name) to make it easier to tag me with the @ symbol 👍🏻

As long as the browning is only on the old fronds and not on the newer, it will probably be OK. Hopefully it will produce new growth when it detects an increase in day length.

I have one in the garden which is supposed to be a dwarf form? V. Nana but is around 6 foot high, had it for around 10 years and so far never flowered Give it rose fertiliser. Hopefully the high potash will sort that.

As I recently read just how hardy the Pomegranate bush/small tree actually is, I thought I would try some from seed earlier this year. I carefully sucked the red watery aril around each seed away from the seed before sowing. I was successful! They may well not bare fruit but the flowers are lovely and the bush has a good golden yellow autumn colour before dropping its leaves. They can take down to -12°c

Thank you SueA. That Hoya picture was taken at night and I could not get all the flowers in. There were odd flowers from Spring until now as there Fractal would you like to send me your address if you want some of this Hoya of mine with no name, and which extends for miles in the kitchen. I planted it in my daughter’s North Queensland garden, and I never saw it flower. It was making for the jungly garden, yet it is in a hanging basket. It was in a basket because I thought it would grow like the Hoya carnosa, but I kept cutting it off the Frangipani tree which it grew through. The Frangipani supported orchids and a python which used to sit on the flat of the ‘L’ shaped trunk to warm in the sun. Very interesting! Your Hoya does look like H. carnosa which I already have but thank you for your kind offer. To be honest, I currently have enough on my plate with the current crop of species and types I have for now😉

You will be in danger of getting arrested Steve if you go out with that I've got several tools I use for different types of weed but the trick is to wait until the soil is reasonably moist making it easier to get them out. Even the supplier says don't take in your luggage!😜

Japeto brand of Hori Hori with the markings on the back and the saw tooth side useful for cutting through roots or cutting back perennials. Curve of the blade Here is the plainer Hori Hori made by Niwaki Incidently, Hori Hori is an onomatopoeia and is the Japanese for dig dig. They must have very gravelly soil if it makes a Hori Hori sound!

That's very kind of you Fractal. I was going to look on line for them. I'll send my address in a PM. Great! The carnosa will root easily in water.
