This is Jemma. The lump next to her is Bill in his favourite sleeping place, under the chair cover. She had just spent five minutes poking him until he moved over enough for her to sit next to him. If he had not been under the cover he would either have attacked her or gone out in disgust. The do not get on at all.

And what you cannot tell from the picture is that Bill is at least twice as big as she is. Still runs away from her though. She also attacks next door's big tom cat and he is very wary of her when he comes into our garden. She does try to have a go at our other one, Ben, but he is the dominant cat and he just smacks her down.

The story of how we acquired her is different to normal cat acquisition. We live on a small country lane and I walk down it in the morning and my wife walks in the afternoon. (Not a problem, it is just that I start off quickly and slow down as the pain begins and she walks slowly and speeds up as her joints loosen, so if we go together we spoil it for each other) Anyway this day she cam back and said that she could hear a strange bird call up a tree, but she could not see anything. So next day I walked down and looked up the tree which she had indicated and there perched on a branch was a tiny kitten, screaming its head off. I came home, collected some cat food and drove back in the car. The kitten immediately walked off the branch and on to my hand to eat the food. I managed to lift her into the car and covered her with a cloth while I drove home. We reckon she was about6 weeks old and only just weaned. Whether she had been abandoned on her own or with a family we don't know. They were harvesting the field behind her and if there were more kittens they would have been caught in the combine harvester. She refused point blank to be house trained which is how she got the name, short for Jemmima Piddleduck. She still is not house trained so she has become an outdoor cat. We have plenty of places where she can sleep warm and safe at night.

Geumlover I think Jemima and Bill get on very well. Jemima did not have to be on the couch next to Bill. She chose to be there. They are exercising their rights.

Geranium I can't see a pic of Widget. Is there one on here somewhere? Perhaps I am missing it.

Geranium I can't see a pic of Widget. Is there one on here somewhere? Perhaps I am missing it. There are a couple of pics. of little Widget in 'Over the Garden Fence' on July 10th (page 367) Cherry, very handsome chap! Not sure if Geranium has put any others of him on in 'Pets' as she has been having trouble posting photos on here from her ipad I think?

You are right, Sue. I can only add photos from my laptop. I'll go and see if I can get tinypic to play, and post more up to date pics.
Sorry - it just won't.
