That's a lovely pic. Cherry, he's a big softy really isn't he. Our cat might be 16 & slowing down a bit but she just meowed at the back door & presented me with a dead baby mouse!

I can go one better. Killercat was 15 when I took him to the vet for his only trip there since he was thrown onto the A10 as a kitten and just a few days before, he killed and brought me a hare. I thought he was about 12 or 13, but the previous owner gave me his history and I was just amazed. His teeth and figure were brilliant. However, your cat is already 16. I wonder how long she will carry on. Clever cat.

Killercat was a good worker to the end wasn't he, I don't think ours could manage a hare Cherry, I think I'd faint anyway if she dropped a dead one of those on the doorstep! ;D

After the first one, you just harden up and let them get on with it. I found it was better if Killercat did his own disposal because he could kill a hare, rabbit or mouse with one well placed bite. I tried once to save a rabbit from the cat, but this was pretty silly as the cat was frustrated and the rabbit was not well after all that. When friends from suburbia visited, I would rake up rabbit bones from under the boats stored in the shed. Different cat, different table manners, so I don't have to rake up any more.
I have some disturbing news on the cat front. I have not seen Aquila for over a fortnight. The cat home said she could be disturbed by the ploughing and harvesting and she could come back. She is certainly too shy to go to anyone. I can only wait and see. She has a chip with our address.

Hope she is O.K. Cherry, she probably would be laying low somewhere away from the machinery & enjoying the good weather, does it not look like she's been eating any of the dry food or would you not be able to tell if that was Atticus?

It is hard to say, but I think it is just Atticus eating the dry food. She did not take much, but unless she is drinking out of the ditches, she would need the fresh water I put into the nissan hut every other day. It doesn't seem to move its level either.

I can't believe this. After making such a fuss and phoning the cat home, my neighbours and telling you on the forum, Aquila is here. I think Sue and the cat home nailed it. The tractors were very close to her and have been working in the field near where she has chosen to stay. In the last fortnight they have scalped the beet and lifted it, then ploughed, harrowed, etc., also sowed wheat all in the last fortnight. There was a harvester and a trailer for lifting the beet. I found out that the cats came from Terrington St Clement and a woman used to feed them every day until there were too many. Aquila was difficult to catch, but Atticus was first in the trap. There were other cats.
The cats were playing together in the field where the washing line is.

Glad the cat is ok cherry. Hywel, that is a bonny cat you have, very photogenic. I know what it is like when your animal goes missing and not just with cats. Since our latest feline acquisition I can honestly say we have had no trouble from Baboons or Dingoes. Come to think about it there has been no sign of Hyenas either. Still plenty of Jackdaws and Magpies though.

Thankyou all. Of course, if it happens again you will hear about it because it all helped to bring her home.
