Just off to pick him up from the hospital - and a consultation with his vet about the results. I'll let you know the verdict later - if there is one!

Well, he has Dermatophytosis - aka Ringworm. We'll have to use an anti-fungal shampoo on him four times three days apart, keep on with the antibiotics and sterilise his bedding - frequently! OH will need to hoover everywhere he goes in the house, too. He'll have to go back for more tests to check how it's going, probably at least twice. He'll have picked it up from spores from farm animals on his walks. At least it's curable, and not one of the other possible long -term problems we were warned about!

I haven't seen ringworm since Australia. It can't be very common here.

Yes. I'm relieved it isn't a thryroid or adrenal problem. They tested for both of those! Our vet told us we had to be careful as it is contagious...we've got to wear gloves when we treat him. I filled in yet another insurance form - one of the tests cost £200. Added up, with the two days in hospital, it'll be a hefty bill.

Yep, my bill is in excess of £400 so far, thank goodness for insurance.

Glad to hear it's nothing too serious Geranium, at least you know what you're dealing with now.

Wasn't sure whether to put this in pets or 'Olympics', it's mainly for twiams & Floydie but I'm sure everyone will love it- the Guinea Pig Olympics! www.amusingplanet.com/2012/07/guinea-pig-games-calendar-2013.htmlYou might have seen it in the papers or on the news, they used guinea pigs from a rescue centre as models & 'photoshopped' them. I found a clip on You Tube which shows more of the photos, they're so cute!
