Thanks, Lou. He's an unhappy dog atm, and I hate seeing his shaved leg where they took samples. At least it won't be long until the hair grows back. We should be able to collect the 'shampoo' this morning and get going on treating him. Do you know - just one of the tests cost £200, and he had a battery of them!

Just an update. The bottle of jollop arrived, and I washed out a greenhouse tray while OH mixed up the 'wash'. We donned vinyl gloves as the instructions told us to, parked the tray in the middle of the kitchen floor (it was pouring outside) and suggested to Henry that he might possibly stand in the tray. Hmmm...his response was a definite negative. He sat down and refused to budge! Treats were no use - he wasn't doing to be bribed this time! We had to get him to stand on an old towel and use cloths to wash his legs and tummy with the 'stuff'. I backed him up and got his hind feet into the tray, which made it easier to 'do' his back end. This palaver has to be repeated three more times at 3-day intervals. If it weren't that he's so poorly with this ringworm, we'd have gven up, I think! Pity he doesn't understand why we're 'torturing' him. OH poured the mixture into an empty fat-ball container, so it's ready for use on Sunday. What joy to look forward to!

Oh dear Geranium, I know its not funny for you but your account of treating poor Henry did make me laugh ;D Perhaps some consolation for all your efforts would be to tell you that my late mother had ringworm on her arm (we never found out how she contracted it) and with treatment it did clear up quickly. Hope Henry's does the same

It is a shame for him but it does paint a funny picture of you all shuffling round the tray together! ;D It reminds me of trying to bath our late dog who thought you were trying to drown her! Dogs & cats don't always understand that we're trying to help them, I've tried everything under the sun to get pills & medicines into them in the past. Hope Henry's condition clears up soon.

What a good photo - I'm not a cat lover myself, but I understand why other people have them as pets. Right - who's going to stop laughing at poor Henry's exploits and come and administer the next treatment on Sunday? Peony? Sue? Hmmm...I thought not.

How big is Henry's ringworm Geranium? Cherry, it seems to be a skin complaint all over his feet, legs and tummy rather than one 'circle'. That's why the vets didn't diagnose it at once. On Sunday he refused to go anywhere near the tray with the 'jollop' in - worse than the first time! However, we think he's not scratching as much, so (hopefully) it's having the desired effect. Only two more sessions to go!

I have only seen it as one patch Geranium and never in this country. I remember children having it too in Australia. Poor Henry! Does it bother him much? I wonder where he got it from.
The hay was cut a few days ago, and the cat suffered badly. He had to come up to the house through the field with the tractor cutting it and he was panting with his tongue hanging out. I have never seen a cat do this. He was off his food for two days and had to sleep in the conservatory instead of the dog kennel. I was very worried about him. In fact, he looks really skinny now. This morning he is back on track and brought a rabbit to put at the gate of the kennel for the dogs, and three mice, two of which he ate and one which he left for later.

Yes, the poor dog is lethargic as well as the obvious itching. He was biting at his feet as well as constantly licking and scratching at himself. He has sore places on his feet and legs. The vet said he could have picked up the spores from foxes, or from farm animals out in the fields. We've had a fox in the garden recently - he went in my greenhouse and destroyed a new box of b, f and b. and left me a 'present' by the door! Cheek! So it could well be from him. Was your cat suffering from inhaling dust do you think? A bit like human asthma?
