Geranium that vet was on Radio 4 this morning and my son's partner is going to listen on 'listen again'. She has some very worthwhile advice as a vet and watches him also.

Henry is getting even more vociferous - he howled last night within 5 minutes of going to bed. I'm waiting for the howling to start any minute as it's just gone 6. I wish I knew why he's doing it.

I might have a word with Natasha to see if she has heard of this Geranium, but I don't think even a vet would give an answer.

One of my friends suggested it might be the start of dementia, Cherry! My son rang yesterday and said to try putting the radio on with soft music, which is what we're trying at this moment. H. didn't howl last night, but obviously it's far too early to say if it works or not. Fingers crossed!

I did not ring Natasha yesterday, but maybe we should see if the radio works. I always left mine on for the dogs until the radio broke down with a nasty electrical smell invading the kitchen, so now I turn it off. It probably would never happen again though.

Tel likes this
Post by Cherry on Mar 16, 2015 20:12:00 GMT
I just wrote a big story about Lily and it shot off the screen when I moved the cursor. It was in answer to you Tel. Lily has settled too well. She now has her food on the window ledge in the conservatory instead of the kitchen. The box came up from the Arcon today and she will sleep in that in the conservatory tonight with the cat hottie. This is heated in the microwave and stays warm completely all night. This will reduce her time in the kitchen so that I don't have to worry about her thieving and bad habits, like walking around worktops. She is featherlight and small, but is not dainty. She walks on plants in the greenhouse and in the cold frame and knocks things over a lot. Lily catches a lot of mice which is a shame because they are just field mice and easy prey, but I saw her chase a rabbit recently. That could be the start because these are new to her. She lived in a flat for a couple of years and never went outside. The original owner, who lives in London, wants to see her some time. She came to us from the engineer because Lily went to France to stay on his farm for about eight months. She did not get along with the other cat and his rescue Alsation savaged Lily to within an inch of her life. She got into the postman's van last week and won't be put out with a push. She has to be lifted by the scruff if she is trying to hide. I saw her jump into the boot of a pilot's car in the car park and he pushed her out. I hope we don't lose her this way.

Jen, it sounds to me that Lily needs a LOT of love and attention. Her confidence has been shattered, she has been abused by other animals and humans have shoved her from pillar to post. The poor thing wants LOVING.

Poor little Lily! Well, the radio idea has perhaps made a slight difference, so we'll carry on with it.

Geranium we leave the radio on for Levi in the bedroom while the workman are here and it's made a vast improvement on him, he was a very nervous cat when he arrived he was scared of his own shadow, I know you've had Henry from a baby but he just likes to now your around.

I certainly agree with you daitheplant, but she gets pats and she is learning that I have rules too. She is not keen on cuddles and will jump on my knee, but does not stay long. She is sleeping by the radiator in a cat bed in the kitchen just now. If she looks at a worktop, she will be put out.

we have a spare bedroom where all the kittens and their mum are during the night. The radio is on very low volume but gets turned off last thing. they have lots of stuff in there to keep them occupied and they use them. our Chaz has been very ill recently and we fear that he wont have much longer left to go. he has daily insulin injections and blood pressure pills. A few times now he wanders all over sniffing his way around as his sight goes and he can't see properly. Eventually he lies down exhausted. very upsetting to witness but as with all pet owners we know the day will come when he will no longer be around. he has been with us over 16 years now since we took him in and a more gentle cat you could hardly imagine and I know he will be sorely missed. All fingers crossed here for him. Hope all turns out well for the other poorly pets here. They are all like family afaiac
