Well, he certainly knows how to communicate, Cherry! He can count up to two and knows the time to within 5 minutes! But yes, in this case, speech would be very useful.

Oh yes Geranium. Dogs count quite well. Sammy knows how many treats he normally has after a walk and he tells the time so well, that sometimes we have to vary feeding times to stop his rigid rules. Not my rules, but his.

Geranium, prompted by your post about the dog mess, in Australia this does not happen. I really mean that. There are designated dog parks and people take plastic bags which are tied loosely on the lead handle. Bins are provided for this eventuality. Quite often good quality council bags are put in a receptacal at the entrance to the dog beach or park.

Do you know, Cherry - the Parish Council installed dog bins in several places round the Parish, and there is one about 100yds from our house. There really is no excuse not to use it. I get so annoyed about it!

That is very good Geranium. It is disgraceful that people will not use them. They just need to take their wee baggies with them.

Often they do - use them, and then hang them in the hedges! Can you believe it?

How irresponsible. This is no fun, but a small price to pay for owning a dog.

I just thought I'd update you on Henry's howling. We leave the radio on all night, on Classic FM, and it's definitely having a positive effect. Some days/nights have been howl-free and some only minor!

That is great Geranium and pointing to 'separation syndrome'. He has good taste in listening too.
