I`m sad to say that James was put down this morning. He had stopped eating and pooping. This morning he was totally comatose and lethargic, so we took the decision to give him peace. He is a friend sadly missed.

That was the best thing to do for James, Dai; we had to take the same action for one of our cats some years ago now....its never easy....

Dai I am really sorry for you. It takes ages to get over it and I think you have another cat which will miss James.

Thank you all. It is never easy, but the pet has to be put before our emotions.

Sorry to hear about James, hard times when you lose a pet. I find the only consolation is, we can help them out of their pain and suffering, when all hope of recovery has gone.

Ohh thats sad Dai, at least he is out of pain now. Do you think you'll get another cat? No, Rosie, Dylan, our existing cat, will be the last one. Thank you all for your kind remarks.

We had to allow the vet to put Harry to sleep last night round 8pm, his heart had become very bad the past couple of days and yesterday when I got home from work he was quite cold, getting colder and more tired as the evening went on, and very thirsty (most likely dehydrated), so we brought him to the vet who said his body was basically systematically shutting down as the heart was now so bad that the blood wasn't getting to all necessary parts of the body. So he mustered up the slightest wag of the tail, a tiny kiss each for me and my hubby, then he fell asleep in his favourite place, lying on my tummy and chest, he fell asleep with his head on my shoulder quite quick and peaceful. I sobbed my heart out but the vet was so considerate. Bob was running about trying to find him last night and he was a bit miffed this morning being put outside on his own (after 4 weeks with Harry for company) and he's been sticking to me like glue this morning. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through work today, distraction I guess.
