Well, you have been together a lot of years and you probably need to be nagged sometimes. When you see the gardener in the wheelchair, it makes us think how lucky we are.

You're right ,Cherry Heather went back home to Wales at 5.00pm It remained dry today so this afternoon I decided to plant the front garden and managed to get it finished before it went dark.I still have some of my tubs to do but I can do them under the car port if it rains so I thought it more important to get on with the planting outside.

Not much gardening time today but I sorted the dahlias out and decided which I am growing. Some are in five inch pots which I obviously will be growing but a lot are in three and a half inch and I need some of these as well,Sorted them into varieties on the lawn then decided how many of each variety I need.

A few days ago a lady who I had already planted about 8 hanging baskets for asked me if I could do another three.I told her that I could but I had run short of plants for baskets and I would have to buy some. Yesterday I got some trailing lobelia from Tesco then went to a garden centre for some other basket plants for her .It was raining this morning so I worked under the car port and planted these three baskets and some of my containers including a manger. It was fine the rest of the day so I went to my son's this afternoon and planted his garden.I wanted to get this done today because on Saturday I have promised to do a plant stall at our church. My own front garden had already been planted and I wanted to do his then I would know which plants I had left for selling. This evening I went on the allotment to weed the dahlia bed.The peas needed tying up first then I carried on weeding and I managed to finish it before it went dark.I didn't think I would because it was pretty bad but they were all weeds that dug out easily .I know most of you will have planted your dahlias by now but I have been so busy with hanging baskets and tubs and other things that I haven't had time.Apart from going to school tomorrow afternoon I will have to spend tomorrow and Friday sorting plants for the stall on Saturday so it will be next week before I can plant the dahlias.

I got annoyed at the church plant stall because I don't do much bedding and the locals did not know what my plants were. They take up space, pots and compost, so I am going to be less generous in future. I am always asked for plants. They are not a forced gift.

I don't quite understand what you mean,Cherry.I have not been asked to contribute plants to a stall. It is just my stall and all the plants on it will be mine, that I have grown myself . It didn't take me as long as I expected to sort the plants out.I had finished before I went to school this afternoon. When I came home I have been sorting out the cardboards that I use for labelling all the plants.I keep them all in the shed that I have used previously and I needed to find the ones I need for Saturday. Some were getting tatty so I made some new ones. On this stall I sell bedding plants in half trays containing 20 plants.I prick some out into these trays but others are in larger boxes. This morning I made plants from larger boxes into trays of 20 . .On a stall we haven't time to count plants for people. They have to buy full trays.

Supposed to be at Blackleach all day today but I only went this morning.I had to take my plants to church for the stall at 7.00pm and I needed this afternoon to finish sorting the plants and the cardboards. This didn,t take as long as I thought so I tied up the chrysanths and removed the lower leaves that had white rust.I also did some more planting in my tubs. Took all the plants to church tonight and set up the stall.

I told you that the school had been having a plant sale but they have a lot left .They decided to sell them at half price to try and get rid of them.I told you yesterday that all the plants on my stall would be what I have grown myself but on the above picture the two trays of geraniums you can see at the front I got from school.

This is the stall after I had set it up this evening with my sales assistant at the back. You can see the cardboards I told you about and there are plenty of spares under the tables to replace those that sell. I am also going to try to sell my flower books.I have only a few left but I could do with selling them.I have left a space for them at the far end of the table and I will take them tomorrow.

Was on the plant stall at church 10.00 till 3 00.There wasn,t quite as many people there as usual perhaps because of the bad weather but I sold £84.40 in plants which I don,t think is so bad. Didn,t sell any of my books though. When I got home I did a final sorting of the dahlias ,putting each variety in seperate boxes ready for planting. There are 122 altogether in 16 varieties. Then planted a flower ball with busy Lizzies.I said before that I wish I hadn,t ordered any busy Lizzies because of the downy mildew problem but now I have got them I may as well give them a chance. If they fail I will have to re-plant with something else.

Only had an hour and a half for gardening this afternoon but i went to the allotment to try and get the dahlia bed ready for planting. The peas and sweet peas needed more ties on them so I did that first. Then I put fish, blood and bone on the dahlia bed and started raking it but didn,t get time to finish.
