What fun, if they want to meet up with other VW owners they might need to move on to Cornwall, if the surf is good that is where they will be. Fistral Beach at Newquay is where they need to head for.

Looks a good holiday. You are talking about the 'pigface' of Australian beaches. It grows at the edge of the sand.
