The only fish I will eat are salmon, cod, haddock and halibut.I tried prawns but didn't like them. Have never tried crab, squid, mussels etc. I used to eat liver years ago but couldn't now. Can't eat unusual meats ,offal or lamb. It would probably be quite easy for me to become vegetarian ;D I am halfway to vegetarian too, but my husband is a real meat eater and if it is wrapped in pastry, that is even better to him. Too long in the airforce I think. Pastry, batter, bread ...... meats and other foods wrapped in this just turns me right off. I really dislike that kind of stodge - so much so that i'll pick out the middle like a child. Bad i know, but i can't stand it, it ruins the meal.

Aren't they a delicacy in Australia? Shudder.... My mam used to go over to Byker and buy live crabs, me and my sister used to annoy them when they were in the sink, we'd prod them with our toothbrushes ;D ;D Definitely not Rosie. These grubs are full of protein so aboriginals eat them. They are big enough to make a meal. When I was at my daughter's place in Queensland, a friend who was married to an aboriginal took me for a walk and we saw some growths on a gum tree. She asked me if I would like to try one, so I said I would, thinking it would be like chewing sap from cherry trees. I did not see the trail of green ants and she picked one up and said she would get it ready for me. She nipped off the head part and left what she eloquently called "the bum". and handed me that. I left it in my mouth until I could spit it out without hurting her feelings. She then asked if I would like another. These little blighters can sting too.

I've only seen them in a documentary and thought I would like to try them but from what you have said I'm not sure now.

No WF. I think it is called a Bl***y Green Ant. They are really common in Northern Queensland. My second daughter had a couple of lines of them running along the terrace top. That seems to be the name of them.

That made me smile. The ones I was thinking of store honey in their bodies. You don't actually eat the ant, just suck the honey out.
