Celebs, now millionaires, this forum is going global !! As for your plastic coating, I've seen it before and it peals off, what's wrong with a lick of paint? I paint mine like Army camouflage, it's so effective I bang my head on them ;D

Just looked at that site Louise. So which one/s did you go for?
I do prefer the natural stuff like geranium's peasticks but if I need to use metal supports I make my own out of sheep fencing mesh or suchlike.

I ordered some straight border cradles and some of the half moon ones, medium height ones. I actually bought some of those cone shaped ones yesterday at the show, a pack of three for £10 ! Wish i'd bought the smaller size aswell but didn't

It's almost impossible to find 'peasticks' nowadays, even in the country. Modern tractors turn hedge sticks into mulch.

I'm seriously thinking of growing my own hazel which I can then coppice for bean poles and peasticks as required. I have to plant up a hedge/screen at the bottom end of the garden and have been in several minds as to what to grow. hawthorn was one choice as I have loads of self sown plants and also some dog rose seedlings which could go in as well. Other choices were laurel or Aucuba but I would have to buy those.

What a good idea SP, if you planted them close they would soon form a hedge. If you needed to keep out animals you could always use a bit of wire. Have you seen the price of Hazel stakes ?

Thnk I may have mentioned this before. I use dried willowherb stalks for the early growth of sweetpeas and they can be quite bushy. Perhaps not suitable for taller plants but they do work for me. When I was driving all over the country I kept a notebook of where to get stuff like that, eg moss for hanging baskets, hazel poles, manure etc etc.

I've just seen this last comment, SP ........ well i was going to add the shooting icon but the last 6 smileys are no longer there so you'll just have to imagine me shooting you Anyway ..... I came here to say that the goods arrived the other day and what excellent packaging this company do, it was superb - everything was intact, and their service is just as good. I'll definately use them again The plastic coating feels like it has a part rubber content to it and it's much better quality than similar items i've seen on sale in other places so i think it will last well.

Once we were at Drum Castle gardens and the gardeners there use 2 canes stuck into the ground like an X. They were in front of the floppy perennials and it worked a treat!!
