Geranium that is marvellous. When did you start your diet? I expect you probably stopped it at Christmas.

This year I thought I might like to loose the 2 stone that the experts tell me I should'nt be carrying around. Too wise to get involved in that diet stuff. Going to eat, hopefully sensibily, but use exercise to shift what I can. If it goes it goes. The other thing some of you may not know is the following based on personal experience. Giving up smoking (although a difficult thing to achieve) is much easier when you have convinced yourself it's the right thing for you to do. Until you are in that zone you are only torturing yourself and are probably better off not kicking the habit. I have brought this on to this page in case you miss it Floydie. AJ always makes good sense. Always? Sometimes.

Well you are a good example for me Geranium. I think Esther is still in festival mode and Hywel is probably being sneaky and losing weight quietly. ;D

Cherry, I'm on simvastatin but it doesn't seem to have affected my weight at all. Not that I'm really bothered. my advice for stopping smoking for what its worth and I gave up after 30+ years, is not to be 'giving up' but by being a 'Non smoker'. 'Giving up' implies trying whereas being a 'Non smoker' implies, 'Mission accomplished'.

Sweetpea. Simvastatin has affected my weight because I am a pig and know I can eat all the butter and cream that I want because the tablets will keep my arteries clear.
I don't think Floydie is quite ready for stopping smoking under any name. I have never smoked, because my parents would have put anyone off. I don't have a drink problem for the same reason.

I am trying, but I find it difficult. Last time I lost weight it was spring and I could have excercise in the garden. I must loose it. I can't do up the button at the top of my trousers without breathing right in

That is a great relief Hywel. I am glad you can still do the button up. You could do the dusting for exercise if you can't get out. That would be boring though.

I know you like walking, Hywel - why not aim for one each day?

Had a weigh in this morning and only put 2lb on over Xmas, happy with that but it will have to come back off plus around half a stone eventually!

I have lost a little weight and feel very smug. I feel almost nasty in my smugness. This must be the real me coming out. ;D

I know you like walking, Hywel - why not aim for one each day? Thank you Geranium. That's a good idea. I try to walk when I can but the weather has been so bad recently, that I haven't been able to go. My arthritis is playing up aswell, so that makes it difficult on times. However I did walk up to the village today (about a mile each way) I'm hoping some gardening will help aswell - when the weather is dry I haven't had any chocolate today ;D
