I made these to sell on a fundraising stall a couple of Easters ago. Currently I am crocheting squares to make a throw.

I used to do Cork Work ( French Knitting ) when i was a kid. My Mother also learned us how to make a Tab Rug, no pics of any of them though. My Nan taught me to make 'rag' rugs, would that be the same thing Tel, using offcuts of material? She used the rugs next to the bed so there was something warm to stand on instead of cold lino Same thing Peony, just called them tab rugs here.

Flodie there is stuff called rigiline that would be great for that job. its a stiffish mesh a few cm wide and you could sew lengths of it to stiffen the ends, its kind of bouncy stiff not rigid . you can sew through it or make a casing to thread it into ,and its machine washable. www.fredaldous.co.uk/rigilene-boning-12mm.htmlyou can also get 5 meters of 8mm rigiline on ebay for £2. 99 free postage Thanks ive ordered 2M 12mm thick

Some very 'crafty' people on here! Love the chicks & the Clangers! I used to do all sorts, crochet, knitting, sewing, embroidery, patchwork, painting, drawing etc. but haven't done anything other than a few drawings for years. Suddenly over Christmas though I got the urge to knit a 'snood' type scarf & bought some wool & needles as my old ones are in a bag stuffed either in the loft or at the back of a storage area! The trouble is I was never the world's fastest knitter & have a terrible memory so I've had to look up how to cast on, knit etc. & have only managed a few rows so far, summer will be here by the time I've finished! ;D

I think I am the opposite because I am a fast knitter and therefore only like to knit fine wool or I run out too fast. Why do I knit fast? It is because it drove my mother mad if I took my hands off the knitting to pull the wool around. She could not stand me knitting slowly.
