Earlier I had an alert from 'Windows' In bold red type it said that my pc was infected with viruses. It looked very authentic and prompted me to open a standard Windows box to deal with it. I can't remember the exact wording but I was about to click it when OH said leave it and go into your own security. Both Avast and Malwarebites showed nothing wrong. What a good thing I didn't click that box.

Ron you had better go and sit in the beer corner for a stiff drink after your lucky escape.

I don't understand the mentality of these Moronic misfits, clever but a waste of space.

There is a phone one going around at the moment. You receive a phone call from your bank informing you that a large sum of money has been drawn on a card in your name with the number (they then read the number from your card). You are then asked to confirm it is your card and it is still in your possession by quoting the last three digits of the number on the back. Your card number is easy to find, the three digit security code is impossible unless you reveal it and you probably just did. I would have fallen for it.

I've had the virus one Ron, that's probably what did for our last computer now I always check my antivirus first. The phone one is a worrying one, especially for old people

The phone one is a worrying one, especially for old people But does your anti-virus stop you clicking on it? OH once clicked on one while on a medical site. She got the same believable message. Sadly I had to get a friend to dismantle the pc, it's ok now so I now have two. Last night I was on photobucket when it suddenly appeared. Glad I ignored it. I ran two checks afterwards and they showed nothing. Believe me if you get the alert, it's very believable!!!!!

The OH has cleaned these viruses off a lot of computer recently. The virus writers are getting very clever, one of the viruses was pretending to be Avast, so Avast couldn't see it. All of them were as a result of clicking on a pop-up while they were on facebook.

WARNING
I just had something pop up while on Photobucket, it wanted to scan my disk for a virus, clicking on the red X in the corner activated it too. I shut the internet down sharpish, the OH has checked my computer and it seems I shut it all down in time.
If you get one of these pop ups, close the internet and not the pop up. It is a bit more hassle but it is better than getting the virus.
