Do any of your dahlia suppliers stock the 'Dark Angel' tubers? I've had a look on-line and can only find one stockist, they are 3 euros each but there is a minimum order value of 40 euros. I don't think my tuber is going to do anything and I did like them. I know Richard R, stocks a Dark Angel, i do not know what variety it is, there is a few in that series www.withypitts-dahlias.co.uk/catalogue.html[/img] Pretty little single and ideal for patio? I bought some plants a few years ago, they were just labelled as "Dark Angel". I *think* that this one is named "Pretty Woman". All mine are now committed for this year but it is a dahlia type widely sold in garden centres as plants later in the spring. There are quite a few in Devon, Somerset and Dorset listed as stocking this, are you North, South, East or West Devon Wildlife? I'll give you some names.

South Devon Richard. I got mine from Fermoy's last year, it would be great if they were doing them again.

Thank you. I know a couple of people who use that nursery, I'm sure they would slip some in with their order , failing that, Fermoys is one of the GS I use.

I dug up one of last year's Dahlias as I found the label marking the spot - and most of the tubers are firm - just the smaller ones were soft, so I potted it up. I think its name is Peach Brandy. I'm not too bothered if it doesn't grow - I've got plenty of others on the go.

I took a few more cuttings today , I'm not quite sure why because I have more plants than beds the only reason I could come up with was 'because I could'. There is no hope.

Check your dahlia cuttings, i found greenfly on a couple of mine this morning. Some dahlias may carry a virus without any symptoms, greenfly can spread it from one cutting to another.

I think you put a HEX on me Tel . As i moved the trays around this afternoon i noticed little black flys running around the tray, how do i get rid of them? I only have one 5mm shoot and the beginnings of other shoots on my Dalia's. Now i do have them in the house (Kitchen on top of the fish tank) so i don't really want to use any pesticides if i can help it (Don't want to kill my dwarf puffers off eek). I think the problem is showing in some of my seedlings too as i have a few young plants now dieing off/yellowing . (Its not the first time one of my hobbies has led to flys in the house last year it was a brine fly swarm as the came in with my brine eggs ).

They will be Scarid Fly, you could use those yellow sticky fly traps hung just above your cuttings. Better still Provado Bug Free, this is watered into the compost and will kill the fly, larvae and eggs this gives one months protection before having to re-treat.
