They will look very pretty Rosie. I have Princess of Wales and this is gorgeous. I haven't got any others of yours, but most clematis are lovely.

I thought perhaps Rosie had gone a bit 'over the top' with her clematis, then I counted how many I have - 13 ;D Grindle is right Rosie, you can never have too many

Well they grow nicely through trees. My Clematis macropetala 'Wesselton' looks fab growing through the laburnum which has not got its leaves yet.

It is really the wrong place for a Montana but it is an old plant by the looks of it and i doubt it would move successfully. Do any of you grow Viticella's??

I like them because they don't get wilt

Yes, I have a blue one, but I have forgotten the name. Good old standby that does not succumb to wilt or anything at all.

I can recommend 'Betty Corning' (lovely blue bell shaped flowers and lots of them), 'Madame Julie Correvon' (dark pink/red) and 'Etoile Violette'. They all flower well for me, I give them a few feeds when they first start showing signs of growth and then let me get on with it

You reminded me Peony. It is Etoile Violette that I have, so it is not quite blue. I love Royal Velours which I first saw growing at Sissinghurst 24 years ago. These smaller flowered clematis flower very profically for longer than the big flowered varieties. I almost forgot my Polish Spirit which is at the kitchen window. I love it because it is much admired.

I love this Clematis which is growing up the tellis in the oval garden - when Barry painted the trellis a few weeks ago the Clematis was pruned a bit but it doesn't seem to have come to any harm
