Thanks. That was what was meant to happen - let's hope it works. The clem has lots of buds, and so has the Kalmia. ;D

I've been planting up more pots today. Here's my big blue pot - the purple surfinias will trail over the edges once they grow. The black petunias in the wall trough started to open too - and they really do look black! I had to replace one of my Mum's inherited pots, as it fell apart in the winter. This is what the two of them look like now. Tomorrow, I'll plant up the troughs in the back garden. Oh, and I added quite a few plants to the new border by the neighbours' fence today. It's looking a lot better, and should be colourful later on. I added Penstemons, Geraniums, Campanula, Verbascums, and Dahlias.

No, they dumped them there ages ago - on their raised border, too - they squashed all the beautiful plants on that. Why? No idea. The ones by the 'orrible wire fence are making it bulge ominously. Glad you like my pots, G. What do you think of the black petunia?

The new garden looks pretty with perennials. Would it be sensible just to cover the offending fence with climbers?

I grew Cobaea & sweet peas on it last year, Cherry - but the east winds just ruined them. I've also tried Clematis in my little triangular bed but they died too. I suspect that if I planted anything much, I'd get a visit from next door, as it is their fence (unfortunately).

I really like it, I'll admire it when I come over. I don't grow them anymore they just don't do well here I see you have it growing with the lovely euphorbia, I've been tempted by that many times, but as it's not a hardy one, have left it at the shows

Glad you approve! Yes, I saw them and thought how good they'd look with the petunias. They'll have to be treated as annuals. I don't think you can take cuttings off them, can you? I planted up two of the troughs in the back garden today - they'll fill out a bit and look better when the Bidens flower. The island bed is coming on - the flowers are starting to bloom. From the other end... My purple Verbascum has flowered already! I think it's called 'Violetta'. This little fellow posed for me this morning - he's a Speckled Wood butterfly.

Thanks, Lou. The roses all have buds, so they'll be out soon - so will the Penstemons. The Clem. on the obelisk is almost finished, sadly - I'm hoping for flowers on the other one - the viticella. It's fingers crossed on that!

Another pot replanted today. My Philadelphus coronarious 'Variegatus' is in flower. I planted this earlier this year on the raised border - 'the bank'. This is the large bed in the side garden - it's usually June before it looks like this! From the other end -
