I like Bowl Of Beauty too Tel., good purchase! I bought a bare root labelled as that once years ago but it turned out to be Sarah Bernhardt like Rosie has, completely different but just as pretty.

Got carried away and spent £12.15p on plants. it came to £13.50 then a further 10% reduction for a discount card ;D I bought 2 clematis, one Bees Jubilee and a white one the name escapes me and it is too dark to go have a look, one reduced from £9.98 to £4.99 then reduced again to £1 the other reduced from £9.98 to £2 2 Coreopsis Early Sunrise, reduced from £3.99 each to 50p 2 Leucanthemum, Sunny side up, reduced from £7.49 each to £1 each. 1 Jasmine, Clotted Cream reduced from £9.98 to £2 5 small Gentian reduced from £1.24 each to 10p each The dearest plant i bought was reduced from £24.98 to £5 i really should have read the label, it may not be hardy enough this far North. some very good bargains there Tel A tip for the Abelia, we had one for mum's front garden and planted it out in the autumn, it didn't survive, so we took it back to the GC as it was guaranteed, they replaced it and the lady told us to keep it under cover until late spring then plant out to give it time to put out a good root system then it would be ok, she was right and it's growing beautifully for the second year

I had no idea Abelia could be tender the first year. I couldn't kill mine if I tried. I would call this a useful shrub rather than pretty. I use it just like greenery in my vases. I would not be without it though, but it needs to be pruned to keep it in check.

it was explained that because the plant is fairly top heavy, it suffers badly with wind rock over the winter which weakens the root system

I won a £15 voucher from T&M so I've ordered some Narcissus 'Shrike' & tulips 'Double Sugar' with that & a couple of heather plants (one pink, one white from the 'Titch' range) which were on special offer from them.

Wel, autumn is a good time to plant roses, so I'd get it into the ground. All of mine are beginning to look sorry for themselves - it'll soon be time to cut them back a bit.
