They've changed the gift to daffodils now grindle so you can send for something else! I didn't buy anything yesterday but I did see some of those awful brightly coloured 'painted' heathers outside the Sainsbury's we went to, they make me want to cry.

Oh those are awful aren't they SueA ! and make me cringe and some people think they are going to stay that colour too ... I have also seen succulents sprayed in different colours and glitter, and cacti with their spines sprayed and paper flowers stuck on top of them, what a dreadful thing to do to plants

I'm glad you still have the orchid lesley, even though it's really a different colour.

I was in our local Nisa store which used to be a Co-op & they'd got a trolley full of plants near the door - had to buy a couple of pots of dianthus for £2 each & 3 trays of 6 violas for £2.50 a tray on my way out - would have been rude not to! ( May go back for more, they had pansies & cineraria as well. )

I bought a Brown Turkey Fig when I was at lunch at Baytree Garden Centre yesterday. It was £12.99, but I had a small amount off because I have a member’s card. It is covered in small figs, really covered. If I had a greenhouse, I would put it in there for the winter, because it is obviously just out of a covered nursery. I think it needs hardening off, so I will wrap it in fleece for the winter. The price was too good to miss I think.

The local sub-post office which was in a shop has closed so I had to walk down to the main post office a mile or two down the road & a big hook came out of Lidl & dragged me in as I passed! I bought 3 packs of tulip, 2 of narcissus & 2 of crocus bulbs for £1.29-£1.79 each.

This is what I got from Lidl, now in the box under the stairs with all the others I've got & just had an email that a pack of ixias & one of crocus are on their way from Brookside Nurseries as well.

I bought daffodil bulbs a while ago in lidl, promised myself Id plant them but there are still in the bag I brought them home in. Definitely tomorrow After more than 15 years I have cancelled my garden news. i know it was only £1 a week but i hardly read it anymore. I did however take out a new subscription for Kitchen garden as it works out at only £2.50 a month with the special offer ( plus 10 free packets of seeds and you know i like seeds )

I hope you enjoy your new magazine ladybird, it will work out cheaper for you too.
I have lots of bulbs to plant as well. I haven't planted any yet and I have two carier bags full ! There's still plenty of time though.
