I made a promise to myself last year and I think the year before as well , not to buy any more bulbs as I never get round to planting them until they barely alive ( control issues I think ) however the inability to buy plants and seeds on line here in NI is having a profound effect on my mental health and I just had to get some minature daffs and seeds from the Range boy did it feel good I see Lidl have some as well .... tulips maybe...

Just happened to go to Wilkos for something else and ended up with more bags of daffodil bulbs and hyacinths. Bit of a mixture. Too wet for planting today but will get them in as soon as.

Some of the old-fashioned Red-Hot Pokers were in the garden when we moved in but these new smaller Kniphofia varieties have started to catch my eye. These are the last two I've bought. Banana Popsicle & Mango Popsicle.

I bought those last year grindle & they weren't hardy outdoors here, the ones in the border didn't come back at all this year. I put some in a pot & kept them in the unheated greenhouse over winter though & they survived. They're pretty but I'd take some cuttings if you want to be sure of keeping them for the following year but yours might be O.K. as your climate is milder down there.

I bought a quince which had been sitting in the local hardware turned garden centre shop for 3 years for £10. It definitely needs to be pruned, so I doubt there will be fruit next year.
