Cherry, it's good to know you will be operated on in one of the best hospitals in the world. My dad was in the old Papworth hospital for a couple of weeks way back in 1972. I had everything prepared to go to Spain at the time & when I visited him in the hospital & offered to put it off to some other time he wouldn't hear of it & insisted I go. I went but felt a little guilty at the time. But a week or so later he was back home.

It was very serious in 1972 balc2. When I got my pacemaker in the old Papworth hospital, I had to stay quiet for a while as I will this time with the new valve. That is when I joined Garden Friends and learnt every thing I now know about computers, which as you all know is not much. In fact, I really dislike cherries as we grew them in Victoria and I had to pick them to help out. I got the password and the other part mixed up and ended up with Cherry.

My dad returned home after a week or two in the hospital but as far as I know they didn't actually do anything with his heart. But then he never did talk much about his heath but I do know he was in hospital on several occasions during the 7 years since we moved from London to here & my going to Spain. He, I think, had stomach ulcers & also a lot of problems with his "water works" as he used to say back then. I wouldn't say he was "secretive" about his health issues but he never liked to talk about them - at least in front of us kids. I never did find out what they did to him to keep him in the hospital for two weeks.

What an amazing experience. I was awake the whole time, sort of, but felt no pain, just discomfort. I look a bit frayed around the edges, but it is onwards and upwards now.
