As I have always said she is too stubborn to admit that she made a mistake and I know I didn't.

Congratulations geumgrower ๐๐๐As it will be our 50th in August I often say "we are a dying species!" as there are few marriages that don't end in divorce after a few years! ๐

I've got men coming here today to put a walk-in bath for me. I couldn't use the shower, I had difficulty turning around in it, and standing under it, so it had to go and last year I had a bath put in instead, but the bath was unsuitable (the men who put it in didn't consult me about it so I have to change it) It will be nice to have a proper bath again. I've been able to sell the unsuitable (for me) bath on a local website for much less than I gave for it, but I wasn't able to use it so changing it was the only option.

Has anyone seen roses flowering yet? I saw a climbing rose just over the road from us at least a week ago, I even got a couple of pictures of them open about a week ago! Just this morning I saw another yellow climbing rose with flowers open - I didn't get any photos this time.
Another thing that's well out of season is the Horse Chestnut trees - I saw an enormous one this morning down by the river it has 100s of "candles" already open to their tops! There are 1,000s more still to come on the tree as well! I did get a couple of photos of it as well, including one really close up of a "candle"!
What about Ladybirds? There are more this year than I've seen in some years! I got many on the plants on the balcony the last few days as well! And bees? I've only seen about 1/2 dozen so far this year! I don't think I've seen any butterflies out & about yet though.
As a teenager (nearly 60 years ago!) at home I always tried to get one of my roses to flower at the beginning of June; I think I managed a bud, but not an open flower. My ambition was to get at least 1 rose to flower before the Chelsea Flower Show came to an end - now they flower in the first week of April!!!

We have had a large number of bees of all kinds so far, plus as Balc says, more ladybirds than ever. Plus yesterday I saw a small tortoiseshell flutterby and a Brimstone too.

My roses don't even have buds yet balc2 and the big Horse Chestnut in the local town hasn't opened its flowers yet either. As for ladybirds they have become a rare sight around here these days. They were very common and I would see several every day but last year I only saw two. This year none so far.

I just saw my first hedgehog of the year, it was a small one so guessing that it's quite young, it was snuffling around the pots near the back door, sometimes pays to be up early in the morning
