Back!. Nice service (if you know what I mean) apposite for the kind of person he was. Drive there is horrendous. Drive home is horrible. I don't think we will drive that sort of distance again. Nice to see all my children and spouses together though, even if for such a sad occasion.

Today I'm going to our minister's old house to help him tidy up the garden. He moved house on Monday and during the week he will be doing any work that may need to be done to leave the house in the best condition for the next family to move in.

we drove 4hrs to Scole near Diss Norfolk yesterday. Much slower than normal, all the limited speed lorries on the roads. Had a relaxing evening last night. Been shopping in Norwich [her birthday] and then spent an hour deciding what gardening to do tomorrow. Hubby is putting electricity sockets etc into their garage, so Dan can use it as a workshop. Tired now but too late to have a nap before we go out for a meal. Its a hard life!!

Glad you enjoyed your day out shopping with your daughter, seaburn! I spent an hour with our minister cutting back bramble! Some of the branches were 3-4m long! But as I said to him "You need an army of gardeners to clear away the bramble!" I did the same back in June this year when they expected to move a lot earlier than October! As we all know you need to get the roots out of you want to eliminate it from your garden! So most of the cutting back will need to be done again by whoever moves into the house next year! 😕

mmmh brambles, tell me about it! Lots in the daughters garden and I have thorn embedded between 2 knuckles and I cant get it out. Will have to keep an eye on it and hope my skin rejects it. Tetanus jab is up to date thankfully.

I've had to make the decision to have my birch tree cut down, it's got too tall and is now into the phone wires from next door and with the storm season here making a start and the way it was leaning in the last heavy winds, I don't want it to end up in my neighbours garden the deed will be done in January my tree man has been booked, I'm sure I will find something to replace it

Thats the problem isn't it. when to call it quits. but every failed/felled plant is an opportunity to go and visit the garden centers.

It was my first day back at yoga yesterday at Wiggenhall St Germans after 3 months absence, and it was uncannily very warm. I have had a holiday in Scotland, and had a really bad flu, which I now learn was most probably Covid as my son and his partner were tested positive for this, but did not want to tell me. It all makes sense now and I still have a ‘Covid’ head for which I was blaming flu. Oh well, I am getting better.

They come in all shapes and heights and can be multi-stemmed too. If you do plant one, do put a copper coin under the roots to keep the witches away. This would take mistletoe easily too.

There comes a moment in everyone's garden, yes, even on the balcony, too, when we have to remove something we have had for years!

Yes Cherry I do have one, I've got a Witch hazel 'Arnold Promise' an Acer 'Butterfly' and a Halesia carolina waiting for new homes, but I think the Halesia would be too big for the space so I might go with the Acer which would not grow too big, I already have a Chitalpa there which is quite big now, although I've been asked for the overhang to be cut back, that will be done at the same time

Of course you would have one Grindle. Your selection sounds lovely.
