grindle, you have some very nice trees! I didn't know them so I had to look them up & the pictures I saw of them are beautiful!

Did any of you have problems uploading photos yesterday? The few I uploaded yesterday took forever to upload & when they did the photos didn't show up very well on my computer. Though when I looked at the post on my mobile this morning I saw they had uploaded correctly.

United utilities are expecting a 500 ton crane next week. It is too big to go on the designated route to the Water works so it is having to go up the lane alongside our property. They have been and cut back lots of overhanging branches as the machine needs 5 metres of clearance above and 3 metres at the side. The road looks much better than it did when the branches dangled down into the road. They also cut back a dead branch from our dead Sycamore which saves me a lot of effort as I was going to do it. Perhaps it will also stop the Squirrels committing suicide by leaping from one side of the road to the other and falling splat on to the road. Seems to be a dead squirrel on the road at least one a week, usually clasping a bit of broken branch.

Dear all, I feel I need a break from technology at the moment, it's all getting on my nerves ... so I'll say farewell for now, and I'll see you again soon x

I've already written sevearal times now about the planters around the cash machine. Well, as I plan on making changes to them at the end of the week, I've been taking some more photos before I remove the plants in them. The Cosmos are flowering better now than at any time up to the present & it seems such a shame to have to pull them up! But then I often feel the same about the flowerbeds made by the council around town, just as many are at their best moment of the season, whether spring or autumn, the bedding plants have to be pulled up to make way for the summer/winter bedding plants to go in!
I've got a few bags of Daffodils to go in the 3 planters so I can't really wait any longer. I've been, & still am, in a quandary to know what to do with the Geraniums & Fuchsias I put in the planters in July. On the one hand I want to lift them & pot them up & keep them through the winter on the balcony but on the other hand I don't have all that much space, even though there is always much more space on the balcony during the winter months. The Fuchsias shouldn't be too much trouble as they can go under the table in the most sheltered corner of the balcony but the variegated Geraniums would need more protection & I'm not sure if I can fit them all inside the mini-greenhouse. I already have a few plants of them inside the flat but I'm unwilling to throw away some perfectly good plants!

These posts of mine about the planters around the cash machine could really do with being all gathered into one place. I seem to have posted in several threads!
