Well, I couldn't live on lettuce leaves , so I have to agree. I am, however, trying to stick to my 'healthy eating' in the main.

We had a plumber here all day yesterday, taking off the radiators so that Richard could paint behind them. Unfortunately, Richard told us he has to go off on another job next week - it's all due to the weather - he has a backlog. It can't be helped, but it's frustrating when things have been progressing. The floor people are coming back tonight to prepare the garden room floor with a layer of latex, then they'll lay the wood over the weekend. We heard from our new Loss Adjustor that the Insurance Company have agreed to give us an interim payment. As we've had to pay out for all sorts of items, it has mounted up! I don't know how they expect people to manage if they haven't got savings.

Feeling a bit down today Richard started to paper the dining room, and we were hoping to get our beautiful new rug delivered next week. Unfortunately, the rolls of wallpaper have a fault in them - a faint brown line down the edges. We couldn't live with that, so the shop has been told and replacement wallpaper ordered. The one good bit is that if we ignored the fault, the paper looked wonderful...so when the new rolls arrive, I know we'll like the new look dining room! The floor people came last night as planned. The plumber is here today, fixing the radiators back on. It's good to see progress! Next week will be strange with no work going on, though.

You are getting there at last hopefully the weather will improve too. re wallpaper, I once put a drop upside down and nobody ever noticed until I told them. ;D Now it is just painting the walls except for the atelier which will no doubt get splattered with paint when she gets into 'Mood' painting.

That's bad about the wallpaper Geranium, I seem to remember you saying it was quite expensive so you'd expect it to be perfect. Hope they send the new paper a.s.a.p!

We collected the replacement rolls yesterday afternoon - they sent them quickly, didn't they - of course we opened a roll and checked the others! Sanderson's sent a verbal apology. Hmm...not sure that's enough, really, when it was a 40 mile round trip to collect them, and we lost Richard's time. Anyway, they are here ready for when he comes back next week.

It's ages since I updated you on progress. We now have two rooms finished (but empty), three wooden floors refurbished, and Richard is painting walls in the sitting room. The rugs are booked to arrive tomorrow, both the new one and the one that went off to be cleaned, and then next week the carpet layers are coming to fit the hall and stair carpet - that'll take two days. We've had the go-ahead to get our furniture delivered on March 6th. After that, it's only the kitchen walls to be repainted. I expect we'll be unpacking boxes for ages! The final task is for Richard to paint the walls in the kitchen and utility area and clean the floor tiles where salts have emerged as the tiles dried out. Mark (who built our wall) has been to assess the proposed new flood defence wall and has booked a week in April to do it. The Environment Agency has been of no help at all - so we're just going to get on and get it built. At last we are getting our home back! I can't believe the end is actually in sight! ;D ;D
