Yes, and I can't wait to have it all back to being a home again. Tomorrow afternoon will be fun, seeing the new rug in place! ;D

Those free hotel slippers are handy for leaving near the door.

Good idea - if I had any! ;D The dining room rug arrived and is laid, but no sign of the sitting room one, and no message. We've rung Andy but no answer yet. The rug looks wonderful.

Today should see more progress on painting walls, and my husband will have to contact Andy again to see when he's bringing the sitting room rug back. Lovely to have things happening - at last!

Today is a momentous one - not only is the new carpet being laid, but the furniture is now back. ;D We've just started unpacking the trllions of boxes. They would have done it, but we decided to take the opportunity so de-cluttering, so we'll be doing it ourselves. It's amazing to have a table and chairs in the dining room after all this time, so we'll sit down to have our dinner in a civilised way this evening instead of eating of a tray.

You'll have to have a celebration dinner now in the 'new' dining room!

Thank you all for keeping my spirits up over the past few months. Although we've made a start on unpacking the boxes, it'll be another week at least before we can live downstairs, I think. I had to eat off a tray again last night. All sorts of minor 'hiccups' arose yesterday evening, such as where are the keys for the cupboards in the sitting room? Where's the remote control for the TV? I might have to learn how to pick locks! ;D I cleaned up after the carpet layer had finished - all the tiny loose tufts of carpet had to be picked up by hand from the edges, and I hoovered the whole lot after that. I filled the hoover! We've put all the covers back on the sofas, cushions and garden room furniture, and re-hung all the pictures. The next jobs will be to move all the glass and crockery that's on every available surface upstairs, wash it and take it back downstairs! Then there are heaps of books - mostly my gardening books - to be taken back down. I'm going to post on freecycle and offer my huge hoard of gardening magazines to anyone! I'm sure there will be 'takers'. We're definitely taking this opportunity to de-clutter.

I am so glad things are getting back to normal for you Geranium. It has been a very stressful time for you both but the light is now at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks, Rosie - we've found the keys and the remote control, so we can get busy emptying the rest of the boxes now. The very nice thing is that Henry is so much happier. He loves the new carpet - so much more comfortable than lying on the concrete!
