I am at my daughter,Heather's in Wales now.The baskets and other containers I took her last time I came are looking good.I have taken some pictures of them and I will show you when I get home.

I have told you before about Geraint, a severely disabled man who Heather helps in his garden.He can't do much himself as he is in a wheelchair.There is a man who helps him as well.We have been this afternoon then I could see his garden.I gave Heather some plants in the spring to do his baskets and tubs and she got some from his local garden centre and they are looking quite good.The vegetable garden is also looking good.He wanted me to look at his sweet corn because some is not growing as well as the other. I told him that it was O.K.Even the smallest plants were over 5 feet tall and had some cobs nearly ready for picking.He has carrots and beetroot almost ready too .

Nothing to tell you about gardening today. It drizzled this morning but it poured down all afternoon. However we have all been out to lunch to celebrate our emerald wedding {55 years} which is on Friday.We went to a restaurant where our eldest grandson works as a chef.He did a good job for us but we didn't see him as he was busy in the kitchen all the time. We are going home tomorrow so this was the last chance for us all to go out together.

I am back home from Wales now and back to "normal". After yesterdays rain it has been nice today. It always seems to be nice when we are coming home.!.I have got my first show on Sunday at Knowsley (Merseyside) but I have to stage on Saturday. I will therefore be starting to cut my flowers and sort out my entries tomorrow.

This is my new book published by the National Vegetable Society.We got them from the printers last Wednesday just in time to sell at Tatton.The price is £3.99 (£ 4.99 including postage) It would make a nice present for anyone just starting to grow vegetables . Today I have cut the flowers and veg for Knowsley show and sorted the veg out . In the morning I have to sort my pot plants out and decide which to take before going staging in the afternoon.

This morning I finished getting my exhibits ready for Knowsley show and loaded the car up then went staging this afternoon. I had half an hour spare this morning after I had loaded up so I fed all the baskets and other containers and some pot plants with phostrogen.

Been to Knowsley show this afternoon. There were a lot of entries and the quality was excellent.I only got 4 firsts but got 12 seconds and 12 thirds. Came second out of 5 entries in the "Master gardener's "class which asks for 2 vases of 3 flowers, 2 pot plants and 2 dishes of veg. Other entries which I thought would have got firsts only got seconds or thirds particularly vases of mixed flowers which I win with at most shows.Showed some of the dahlias that Scrumpy sent me. I thought they were nice but they didn't win anything.The only dahlias I did win with were Taratahi Ruby.My other firsts were with pot plants.I will show you some pictures probably tomorrow
