Went on the allotment this afternoon. Cut down all the gladioli that were past their best. On Aug 21st (only 2 weeks ago) for our show I only had 4 gladioli out but since then they have all come at once. I cut 10 to show yesterday which were still nice but there were several more that had gone past it. My next show is not for two weeks so I hope I will have some left then. Did some tying up of things that needed doing then carried on with the weeding.
It rained hard this evening so I went in the greenhouse and took 40 fuchsia cuttings.

Went on allotment this morning and just carried on with weeding. It rained most of the afternoon so I stayed at home. Fed the hanging baskets and tubs with phostrogen then spent rest of the time in the greenhouses, also this evening till 8.00 when I went in to watch the programme about veg on the telly.
Took some more geranium and regal pelargonium cuttings and a lot of fuchsias.I think I have enough fuchsias now . I have taken 5 or 6 from all the varieties that I have.Apart from a few fuchsias that I want for showing a week on Saturday I cut all the rest down.They get a bit leggy in the greenhouse because there is not enough light due to the flowering cherry tree in the neighbouring garden overhanging the greenhouse.Cutting them down will help them to grow more bushy in spring.
I have just finished making a list of all the seeds that I have left , both part used packets and new ones given free in Garden News.I binned some that were out of date.This will help me when I have to decide what I need for next year. Shelleys veg seed catalogue has arrived already so I will be making their order out soon.

Managed to stay fine today until evening so I have been on the allotment both morning and afternoon. Rosemary needed the car this afternoon but she dropped me off at the allotment and I walked home.It is O.K.doing this if the weather is fine and I don't have much to carry home. I have only been hand weeding today so I only needed my hand fork . The dahlias needed dead heading again and a few things wanted tying up but apart from that I just carried on with the weeding.
As I have told you before I am going to Harrogate tomorrow. I have to go to the A.G.M. of the National Vegetable Society and be presented with my fellowship of the society. This is not till 4 PM so we will be able to look round the show first. Might I see any of you there?. We are staying in a B&B overnight and coming home Saturday.It is my birthday on Saturday so Rosemary thinks it will be a birthday treat for me.I will have to miss Tottington show that I normally go to but it is only one year and I will be back next year.

Arrived home from our visit to Harrogate at 6.00 so life is back to nornal tomorrow. Enjoyed the show but hadn't time to see it all because we had to go to the A.G.M.of the National Vegetable Society at 4.00 . As you know I was presented with fellowship of the society. I received a framed certificate which I am going to show you now
