I told about putting green tomatoes in a drawer with a banana skin to ripen them. Today I got a basin full of red tomatoes from the drawer. Not done any gardening jobs today because we went out this afternoon. Heather went home after. Could have a full gardening day tomorrow, weather permitting. Glad you liked my pictures yesterday.

Not quite a full gardening day. I had to take my car to the garage to have a job done and then I went to Blackleach to count the birds on the reservoir. I am not recording flowers again this year so I didn't need to walk as far. I just went along one side of the reservoir so it only took me half an hour. I can't leave Rosemary any longer than this. My next gardening job is to box up my chrysanth stools. This morning I washed the mushroom boxes that I use and half filled them with John Innes compost. The rest of the time I started digging up the stools, took them into the greenhouse and sorted them into rows of each variety. Did about three quarters of them. Hope to box them all up tomorrow.

Today, I have dug up the rest of the chrysanth stools and boxed them all up. I use mushroom boxes which hold about 12 stools. I have 12 varieties and I have put two varieties in each box with a divider between them.

Today I have fixed a new shelf bracket in my greenhouse, then put the shelves up. They had been taken down for the tomato plants. The sheet of polythene over my chrysanth bed has been destroyed beyond repair by the wind so I took it down. The pieces of wood which fastened it to the wooden framework still need taking down.

Went to Blackleach as I always do on Thursdays. I couldn't stay, though, because neither Martyn or Heather could be here to look after Rosemary. Richard, the ranger was on holiday so I just went to open up the building for the walkers to go in and then come home when they had gone on the walk. When I arrived, though, Joe, one of the other rangers was there (I didn't know he was going). The place was in darkness because there was no electricity on. Jo was trying to do something about it but couldn't and the alarm kept going off. So, the walkers couldn't go in the building after the walk like they always do, for a drink. They just went for a walk then went home. I was supposed to be going back for the art club in the afternoon but Jo phoned the leader and cancelled it. So I came home and had the rest of the morning and afternoon in the garden. I got the pieces of wood that I told you about yesterday off the framework, then I pulled up all the plants from the front garden and put them in sacks to go to the allotment next time I go to be put on the compost.

Now that I have removed all the plants from the border round the front lawn, I weeded the border this morning but there weren't many weeds. I weeded it with a hand fork but I forked it all over with a large fork after. We had a window box at the back containing blue calibracoas and this afternoon I took it down and potted up the plants and put them in the greenhouse. This was the window box in the summer

As you know, I can't leave Rosemary for very long. This morning I just went to the hut to pay some money that I owe, then came home. We have only one more Saturday to open this year and I don't think I will need anything else this year. After, I just took 6 sacks of plants which I had pulled up from the garden to the allotment and put them on the compost. I took her for a walk this afternoon. After, now that I have some empty sacks, I started pulling plants up from the border round the back lawn .

This afternoon we went with Martyn to R.H.S. Bridgewater. The reason I wanted to go today was because there was a late chrysanth show. I don't grow late chrysanths any more, I just grow earlies but I am still interested in them. If you remember, I went there in September for an early chrysanth show but it was cancelled but this one went ahead. The benches weren't full but the quality was excellent. Martyn took Rosemary a walk round while I went in the chrysanth show .We then went in the cafe for a drink before coming home.

Today, I took 6 more bags of plants from the garden to the allotment and put them on the compost. I then pulled up some more plants from round the back lawn and also 3 containers on the terrace. There were some perennial lobelias (Queen Victoria) in the border and I potted them into 5 inch pots and put them in the greenhouse. This evening I have been to a meeting on the allotment but it only lasted half an hour.

It rained all morning today, hard at times, so I stayed in and carried on with my writing. It stopped raining this afternoon and I decided to go to the re-cycling centre with some rubbish including all the torn polythene off my chrysanth bed. When I got home I took down the three hanging baskets from next door which I planted, took them into the greenhouse ,emptied them and potted up some plants I want to keep for next year, mostly white bacopas and orange diascias. The wires across the chrysanth bed to which the canes had been tied to were still in position. I untied them from the T posts and laid them along the fence at the back and tied them to it.

Because Heather is here I took the opportunity to go to the allotment so I went for a bit this morning and afternoon. My next job is to box up the spray chrysanths. I had cut most of them down before and tied on the labels so,this morning ,I did the rest and dug them all up and brought them home. I won't be able to go to the allotment again, after today for a while so this afternoon, rather than box up the chrysanths, I went back to the allotment to tidy the bed .I also cut down the remains of the gladioli and pulled up the canes and the chrysanth canes and brought them all home. I also pulled up the marrow and courgette plants and put them on the compost.

We had a wet walk at Blackleach this morning and it hasn't stopped raining all day so I haven't done any gardening.
