It has been dry today. Had about an hour and a half on the allotment this morning ,just carrying on with the weeding where I was doing last time I went.We went for a walk this afternoon and after, I finished weeding the chrysanth beds.I had a row of lobelia "Queen Victoria" on the border in the back garden alongside the path.I have decided to pot the plants up and keep them in the greenhouse over winter so I dug them up and put them on the greenhouse floor. Will probably pot them up tomorrow. My seeds from Suttons arrived today

It rained all morning but dried up a bit this afternoon but I didn't risk going to the allotment.Went to our local garden centre this afternoon for some plants for my winter baskets. Got some large ivies that I can split up into several plants and also some dwarf conifers, heathers and cyclamen. Been in the greenhouse the rest of the time. I potted up the lobelia"Queen Victorias".Some had larger root systems than the others so I split them in two. Spent the rest of the time potting up plants from my summer baskets that I want to save for taking cuttings of next spring. Did the baskets that I had already taken into the greenhouse then took the two down from the front of the car port and did those.

A dry day today.Had an hour or so on the allotment this morning.Cut the remaining spray chrysanths that were any goog and took them home.Began cutting down the plants and did about half of them. We went a walk this afternoon .On the way home I posted my seed order to Dobies that I made out last night. On my order I have included some for school and some flower seeds to be given away on the allotments. When I got home I took down the rest of my hanging baskets and emptied some of them and potting up the plants I want to keep.

It was wet for our walk at Blackleach this morning but it dried up this afternoon. On my way home at 3.00 I went on the allotment.I cut down the remaining spray chrysanths and put them all in sacks to take home.I began tying the labels onto the stools but didn't have time to do many. The seeds from D.T.Brown's arrived.

A dull day but it kept dry.Had just over an hour on the allotment this morning. Finished untieing the chrysanth labels from the canes and tieing them onto the stools.A time consuming job but I managed to finish them and remove all the canes. We went a walk this afternoon and after, I finished emptying my hanging baskets and potting up the plants from them that I want to keep. I plant 12 baskets for myself in summer but for winter I only do 5 for the front of the house. I put these 5 in the greenhouse ready for doing.

Today I started planting my hanging baskets in the greenhouse.I also planted two for Edna, the other walk leader at Blackleach. I put a centrepiece in them and some ivy round the edge but they need some more plants in yet. Apart from the baskets, there were some other conainers with plants in that I want to keep for next year so I potted some of these up. Heather arrived at 5.15 for the weekend

It is raining this evening but the rest of the day has been nice.Because Heather is here I took the opportunity to have an afternoon on the allotment rather than finish my hanging baskets.I often have an hour on the allotment in a morning while Rosemary is still in bed but I can never have a full morning or afternoon unless someone is with her. I dug up all the spray chrysanth stools .There were two rows of gladioli on the same bed that had finished flowering so I dug these up as well .I don't keep the corms because I find it more reliable to buy fresh each year. Spent the rest of the time weeding the bed but only did about a quarter of it. Heather is not going home till tomorrow evening so I could carry on with it tomorrow, weather permitting, but the forecast isn't good. I brought the chrysanth stools home.I need to sort them out and box them up in the greenhouse but there isn't room till I have finished the hanging baskets.

It rained nearly all morning and showery this afternoon so I couldn't go to the allotment. So I finished planting my hanging baskets.Had to go to the garden centre for some more plants first.I then removed the plants from the tubs in front of the house and under the car port and got them ready for planting. I don't replace all the compost at this time of the year.I just remove a few inches then fork over the rest of the compost and add some Q4 fertiliser then top up with fresh compost. Heather went home at 5.15. Hanging baskets planted for the front of the house

A showery day but I have been working mainly under the car port. I have planted all my tubs. When it was raining I brought thoe tubs from the front of the house ,one at a time, under the car port to plant them.Put the bulbs in first (dwarf daffodils and taller ones and two varieties of tulips)then other plant from cell trays on top (pansies, polyanthus, primulas, bellis and wallflowers).Put the hanging baskets up in position. The weather forecast isn't good for tomorrow so I put the chrysanth stools in the greenhouse ready for boxing up.

Only a brief shower today. I boxed up my spray chrysanth stools into three boxes.I hadn't enough compost so I had to go to the hut for some more.I then started pulling up plants from the front garden that had finished and filled three sacks with them which I will take to the allotment next time I go and put them on the compost. All chrysanth stools boxed up and put on greenhouse shelf.

It was dry this morning and I pulled some more plants that had finished out of the front garden and some from the back. We decided to go a walk this afternoon so I put the wheelchair in the car and we set off.We had only gone about 100 yards when it started pouring down so we turned the car round and came home. The rest of the day has been showery. I told you that I had emptied all my hanging baskets and potted up some of the plants but there were three on the front of the house next door which I had planted so I did the same with those this afternoon.

It has been showery today. I went to school this morning and picked all the tomatoes including the green ones and cut down the plants. I will have to go another day to empty the pots. This evening I have put the green tomatoes in a drawer with a banana skin along with my own . This afternoon I have potted up the surfinias from my window box in the back garden to keep till next year. I also potted up the begonias from some of the tubs and put them under the greenhouse staging to dry off.

Not as many showers. Did the bird count at Blackleach with Janet this afternoon then took eight sacks of plants that I had pulled up from the garden to the allotment and put them on the compost.I then took the sacks to school to empty the compost from the tomato pots into. Also took a tray of tomatoes that I picked yesterday and left them near the door of the school then the teachers and staff will see them tomorrow. Didn't have time to empty any pots but I removed all the long canes that had supported the plants. They were tied to a horizontal wire along the top of the polytunnel so I had to cut the string off.

More showers today and some of them heavy. There were some diascias in a chimney pot on the back terrace and I potted them up and put them in the greenhouse. These are the last of the basket and tub plants that I want to keep over winter to take cuttings from next spring. While it was raining hard I removed the beans from the pods that I had put on a cupboard in the kitchen to dry. We won't be sitting outside again this year so between showers I put the table and chairs away that were on the terrace. The table dismantles and it goes in the shed along with the chairs. There is ivy growing on a fence behind the rockery and it creeps all over the rockery if I allow it to so I cut a lot of it back off the rockery.
