I seem to be having a lot of problems with my computer internet and Garden Friends proBoards compatibility today.
I've been out back with my dahlias cutting down straggly stems which have grown off of side shoots.
It feels like it is going to rain but I've had to come in to sterilise my scissors.
...yep it's started raining.
Fab Oh I just hope that it isn't going to be as bad as they said on the weather forcast because it will ruin what I have if that is the case.
Something will be left when the rain ends.

Giving up and going to bed. I am cold, wet, tired and fed up. PreBoards / Internet are doing my head in. Didn't sleep well last night too busy worrying about things non gardening related.
Maybe I'll get out of bed on the right side when I get up.

LOL! Moonlight! You have so much on your plate! No wonder you're not sleeping properly and feeling tired. I haven't been sleeping well the last couple of nights and am wrecked, but I can't say I am as busy as you!
Cheers!
Hope all goes well!

Maybe I'll get out of bed on the right side when I get up. Up again but I am sure the jury is out on whether or not it worked.
HH came home from work for lunch and we read the school newsletter we read that Pirate Yellow Wellies has won her weekly class award. So I can't justify being quite so grumpy (round the edges) with good news like that.
I would say that the rain has been variable thus far but not torrential like before, Fingers crossed that it stays that way.
We had made plans to empty the girls vegetable gardens to see if they have any vegetables that they can enter their children's class at the show. We were also going to crack on with the nature picture: "Make a picture using flowers, leaves, fir cones, acorns, etc." hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
We've got a lot to do in the children's classes and a birthday party Saturday afternoon + swimming first thing Sunday, so we are running out of time. HH is beginning to panic. It isn't helped by him now knowing just how long it takes me to stage. I checked my potatoes they haven't rotted but some have flaked skin. Don't really know what to do about that one. Just got to keep telling myself:What will be will be, can try our best but that's it. If it is meant to be it will happen. If it isn't then it won't.[/font]
I like your attitude Moonlight, you have plenty of years ahead of you, you will look back on this and wonder what all the panic was about.

Oh dear!! Sleepless nights are the pits when you have work to go to.. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that these days although it's bad enough not being able to sleep anyway.

Just been down to look at my dahlias for pre show analysis. I've managed to push my Weston Pirates down to a miniature and next year I am going to push my Weston Spanish Dancer up to a small, like I have my Downham Royal which in my totally unbiased opinion look gorgeous!
It's a bit gusty now just wondering when the best time will be to cut. Everything is very wet and soggy.
hmmmmmmmmmm.
I don't know. I don't want to ruin my chances after all, I've spent a year working towards this show.

Rain has now been followed by gusty wind. Came home to discover girls sunflowers had fallen into each other.
Now its starting to rain.

Thank you guys. Well I've done the best that I can. That's it. Was out until it got too dark to see properly. I've cut 6 Gurtla Twilight (A vase of 5 class) would have looked for more but needed to stop and get on with the ones that are important to me. That sounds terrible but it is true.
I've cut 5 Downham Royals, I need a vase of 3 and my singles. I've cut 3 Weston Pirates. At which point I stopped. Maybe another will grow overnight. I really am bad at this cutting and packing but watching when Dad does it doesn't make it look easy either.
I cut myself whilst cutting a Downham Royal, had to go in to get some kitchen towel to stop it dripping on the dahlias. It was all over the blade from where it was dripping rather than when I did the cut itself. I wish that I could just use scissors one snip and it's done. Couldn't do that on a bigger flower but my littlies, I could do.
I'll look at my Spanish Dancers in the morning. If I have time. A very busy day.
It is a shame that I can't take a Eastwood Moonlight to the show but I am always (gosh sounds like I have done 100s) double proud to enter a Downham Royal because they are super special. It's my dream. It's what I wanted right at the beginning.
Can't wait till tomorrow. Not an adrenalin rush, just looking forward to it, unlike my poor husband who is looking forward to it all being over. Fingers crossed that everything looks good in the morning.

Girlies have had a mixed day. They have made a the beads fir the edibable necklace - flying saucers, with icing and sparkles. I hope that they don't break when I thread them in the morning. They never did the nature picture, I think the enthusiasm burnt out a bit at the end. The girls tipped their vegetable growing bag gardens. Well Daddy picked it up and tipped it for the. Very different. Pirate Yellow Wellies' was dry and crumbly. Her only veg was what was left that the caterpillars had left behind. :(A bit sad really but something she needs to learn. Fairy Pink Wellies' was wet but her crop was a tiny garlic, a tiny beetroot which was smaller than a small radish and 2 and half teeny weeny carrots.
So the girls veg. is going to be their tomatoes.
