I thought I'd start a new 'garden gallery' as there have been so many changes in myy garden in the last year, and there will be more to come when we start making flood defences! So, to kick off, I took a few photos of plants in flower at the moment. This is Olearia 'Master Michael' which thinks it's May. Sadly, if the temperatures do fall, it isn't likely to survive. A Mahonia sold as 'Charity' but I'm sure it wasn't. However, it has lovely pale yellow flowers, and it flowers reliably every winter. My favourite Clematis! Its full name is C. cirrhosa var. purpurascens 'Lansdowne Gem' and the flowers are all maroon. It climbs up over an arch into a climbing rose on the front of the house, almost reaching the eaves. Sweet smelling Sarcococca humilis. The intense colour of the new leaves on Sobaria 'Sem' always takes me by surprise. This little shrub does 'walk' but I don't mind, as I can pot the off-shoots up for my plant stall. As you know by now, I love Hellebores, and I watch them open their beautiful flowers with great pleasure. This one is called 'Walbertson's Rosemary'. More later!

After all that has happened outside it's amazing the way that the garden is fighting back so beautifully. I hope that we don't get the snow forecast it would be a shame.

It would, Moonlight. First drowned, then frozen. Poor plants!

It's great to see such beauties showing off in your garden after the inundation. Love that maroon Clematis and the lemon Mahonia.

I had a wonderful surprise this afternoon. I was walking past a Clematis that hasn't flowered in the five years it's been in - and lo and behold - what did I see? Clematis napaulensis -and yes, it's supposed to flower in the winter. I'm thrilled to bits! This is a very reliable (and vigorous!) Clematis cirrhosa - 'Wisley Cream'. Helleborus x balliardiae 'Candy Love'. In the shady area I planted a few weeks ago.

Three photos taken from the front door in the last 6 months. 1) Summer. 2) Late Autumn. 3) Winter - the first snowfall. Hmmm...can't wait for spring!

lovely Geranium, maybe it is a sign, from all of the chaos now is the time for the restoration of Harmony in your garden. You and your garden deserve a break.
