Weather Station

I made a mistake this morning (I blame it on still being sleepy! ) when I said no rain was forecast for today! In fact several hours of rain were forecast for the morning - but only a shower turned up about 12 noon! (I was almost right! ))

This evening, between 6 & 8pm, there is a 95% chance of rain according to the Met Office app! But it wouldn't be the first time that a forecast like that turned out to be completely erroneous & it has been dry here! In fact quite often when the forecast is for a 20% chance we have had a downpour!

Last week I downloaded & installed another weather app on my phone, it's called AccuWeather. Last week we had a thunderstorm & this was the only app to get it right! The Met Office app only forecast rain, as did a couple of others I consulted, (I don't have them installed on my phone,) but this one was the only one to get it right!

There is a yellow warning for rain in effect for tonight & tomorrow morning but I doubt we'll see much here. There is also a flood warning in effect, but, again, it won't affect us even though the river is less than 10 minutes walk from our place. Though it isn't exactly for Huntingdon but for a couple of towns & villages a few miles to the south of us. We are fortunate as we have lots of land around where the river can, & does, overflow after a lot of rain. Riverside Park for one often gets flooded. There is an arched bridge in the park over a small tributary of the Great Ouse river that flows through town & it is sometimes left standing alone in the "middle" of the river, as well as benches in the park!
