Hi Mattalo - yes please keep me posted on the hollyhocks. If mine do flower (and it is a big IF with my lack of experience) I will try to figure out how to post a pic.

I'm envious of your Garden, Mattalo.
Ooooh... you mentioned Hollyhocks. I got given some of those, and put them in the Huge Pot. They grew an impressive canopy of big leaves, but didn't produce any flowers. Eventually they died back, and I'm hoping they've self-seeded (certainly something appears to be growing back). Is this normal behavioir ? I know some plants only flower in the second year or so ?

However they are perennial so maybe you are seeing new shoots from the roots. You say they didn't flower. If they were sown late in the year they may not have reached flowering size ,they probably will this year. Ps don't feed them or they'll make loads of leaves at the expense of flowers. They seem to do best here when they self sow into ridiculous cracks in concrete.

Ahhh... thanks for the update on that Mattolo. Thinking about it, the plant was transplanted late in the season (can't remember when it was planted, as it was a gift from a neighbour).
Sooo... lets see what happens.
Oh.... I don't have any concrete... would a cracked brick suffice ?

Your garden is beautiful mattolo. It looks like you have concentrated mainly on shrubs and even trees.

Wow... you have a zoo as WELL ? ?? Yes I keep chimps in the greenhouse. I thought an echinaceas was a south-american donkey, and hemerocallis a type of camel ? They certainly SOUND like they should be !
