I have the only show tomorrow that I am entering my sweet peas in, I entered last year for the first time but didnt know what I was doing so am hoping to improve.
Its the first time I have grown them on cordons and could have done with the show last week or the week before as they need layering now.I will try and get some photos tomorrow

CB, there is a temporary measure you can take to postpone layering for a few days. As you will know when you layer you will get many distorted stems but you can just undo the lower rings and slip the haulm down so that it curves out and you will have lowered the stems by a few feet and still have the stems ok. After the show you can then fully layer in your own fashion. Mine are at the top of the canes too but I am only growing for the house and not showing so a few bent stems wont matter overmuch. good luck at the show.

Thanks everyone as I say I was gobsmacked as when I was staging the man from last year that told me he would have beaten me if he had his there turned up. He had vases and vases of fab blooms so I thought that was it but I did say to rob that my Gwendoline were on a par. Then when we got there I saw it had a first and then best sweet pea scribbled on it I couldn't believe it! Made my day

You never told me this in my 'masterclass' sweetpea. What a good tip!
