Excellent Terry. Go for it. Wanted to drop off daff bulbs at mine this morning then go checking out the garden centres. Ended up yapping to the secretaries husband for over an hour.lol I keep getting collard by the Secretary on the new allotment, for a natter. He is lucky though I have not raised the subject of dahlia's yet.

I was told the new allotment site suffers from onion white rot. So I have had to plant a few Onion Marco into a old bath, sown a few carrots between them.

No ground grown onions for 7 years then Tel. ???Personally, I would treat the area with a certain garden disinfectant, even though it is not allowed by the EU.

Went across there this morning, there was a guy 3 plots away from mine, he was planting his onions and leeks into the ground. When I told him the Sec said we have white rot, he replied maybe its just his plot because my onions were fine last year.

It does tend to be localised. Especially if someone has followed the old system of growing members of the onion family in the same place year after year. I would suggest you sow spring onions on the plot and see what happens. Just scatter them everywhere.

At the allotment this morning. The ground conditions were finally right for sowing peas and parsnips.

Let's hope it is in reasonable condition Tel as in this current heat it will be hard work clearing an overgrown plot.

Well done Tel. That is fantastic. Will you be able to give your other plot up when you lift the dahlias?
