I decided to go out in the garden & see what was in flower, some unusual for the time of year- Pelargonium in bud in the wooden trellis tub at the front door, been there since last summer, still all green & healthy! Dianthus in flower in the hanging baskets Leucanthemum, flowering since last summer in a pot on the patio Lobelia still blooming in the windowbox along with the cyclamen I bought from the Christmas fair in November and more usual, viburnum Bodnantense 'Dawn' - one of the pots by the front door and something I need help identifying, self-seeded a few years ago, looks like it wants to be a lagre shrub or small tree but I keep cutting it back & using the berried branches for Christmas. The leaves are slightly furry on the back & the flowers are tiny white-tinged pink.

I think that is one of the Cotoneasters SueA. Keep cutting it for Christmas as it likes it. I have one which arches over the railway sleeper and I have to keep it pruned back.

It's so strange to find Pelargoniums in flower in January! I do like your pot.Pretty primroses. I've got some winter flowers out too - Lonicera purpusii, and my Clematis napaulensis, as well. There are still remnants of last summer's flowers, too. Not forgetting dear 'Freckles' Just one more - a 'scene' in the front garden which caught my eye because of all the different shades of green.

Thanks Cherry , the blackbird likes the berries too. Geranium the mixture of 'greens' does look good, I like a good green background which creates interest all year round like that.

Sue, I'm amazed at how much colour you still have in your garden, your pot by the front door is lovely. I have the same cotoneaster but mine has grown into a tree, and the birds have eaten all the berries Geranium, I love your last photograph with all the different shades of green

Thanks @hywel & peony , I'll make a note of that. I did think it looked like it would eventually be a tree so I keep cutting it back, it's at the edge of the decking patio so if it gets too big it'll have to go.

SueA it will grow to quite a size, but you can keep cutting it back to keep it the size you want.

Thank you all for your lovely comments - I agree about having the winter interest - but I have to be careful not to let too many of the Hellebores seed themselves - they get their seed heads chopped off before they can!
