:(Angle shades moth, what a utter pest & nuisance this thing is, very active at night and laying eggs all over my dahlias. I have now holes in leaves on roughly 70% of my plants. Been using different insecticides but the blighters are still about. Earwigs are controllable enough with the use of top quality vaseline on the flowering stem which I am applying. Anyone else plagued with caterpillars and holes in leaves due to night time moths?

Don't know if that is the one in my case, but Decis will have zapped them.

Not had holes in the leaves, burkey, all the damage is on the blooms themselves. As scrumpy says, the spray this morning should have zapped them.

Can anyone help us identify this dahlia please?? Bryn Terfel - Giant Decorative. Normally it's restricted to 3 up which is why your blooms are undersized for show purposes. They look nice for a splash of colour though. Not my cup of tea as the blooms resemble a crows nest. But to each is their own.

It's not ours, just one that we saw at someone's allotments. We grow Bryn Terfel but ours doesn't look like that?
