Hi Dave!! You are most welcome on board here. We are lucky to have a good Dahlia section on this forum, which seems to be attracting the elite of the dahlia world!! I add my congratulations on the Award....wonder who will get the job of polishing the cup!!.
We are hoping to come over for your special open day on Sunday...depends if Husband's chest infection clears up. If not we will try and get over one weekend in October; remind me when the trial gardens close for the season?

Thank you for the welcome. Enjoyed the show. It was a busy few days. Cutting 800 or so to bowl up 600. Had a few exhibits in the show itself then judging in the morning. My feet are still recovering! The fields are open until the first frosts but it would be good to see you this weekend. Liked your collerette Tel. Saw it at the trials on the way down to Wisely for judging but only a few flowers out on it then. Similar colour to Hootenanny but plant habit is much better.

Welcome to the forum Dave, it's great to have another top, top dahlia man on here with us. Fantastic display at Harrogate, well done to all your team. I was stewarding on Friday, and the standard was very high, so I hope you did ok with your blooms.

Thanks Dave, saw it at the trials yesterday, there were quite a few out and some buds too, they were the biggest plants I had when I took them to the trials. I thought they would have flowered out by now. But no they look as they will continue flowering for a while yet. Still on cloud nine, after It beat 7 other well established Collarettes for a vase of 5. Plus a 2nd in the single bloom class.

Talking of the Dahlia Trials, a Collarette has never won since the trials began. Garden Friends, ok I am biased, because it is our Forum Dahlia but we won at Harrogate with it, we deserve a top ten position in the Trial results, when they are announced.

Can anyone suggest a small Dec for next year maybe something that's caught the eye at the shows? A dahlia without covers, Rycroft Brenda T if you show in August Winholme Diane.

Fingers crossed we get there!!....If no-one on your team took any pics of your exhibit, I would be happy to let you have a copy of the ones I took.....

Took some Carstone Firebox that were cut in the dark- and I mean the dark- 5am Thurs just before leaving. Didn't place but didn't expect to. It is the taking part that counts. Did come 3rd in the 2 x 5 collerettes with Dilys Ayling and a white called Hilda and David.

There was a lot of pressure on me Dave, imagine what my life would be like on here if we did not get a card.
