Very good news in the department today and not really from me! Came home from work happy. I was on the train and I realised that it is April. Big month, 's birthday at the weekend and it is the day of the local town show.
I am Not entering any classes. but the girls will be, currently planning their scarecrows. Here are the children's classes:
*Dress up a hard boiled egg to make a Humpty Dumpty in an egg cup. *Make and decorate 4 Easter cup cakes *A Plate house (there is an instruction leaflet which I need locate)
*Open Class Make a scarecrow max size 2 foot.
erm... None of which, we have started but Grandad is helping the girls with their scarecrows. n.b. "All children's entries should be the work of the child on their own." That rule will be followed to the letter but tonight we had emergency phone calls (at bed time!) (When do I ever do anything at a regular time?). Pirate wants a turnip head with raisins for eyes and a carrot nose, Fairy was talking about using a paper bag for a head. Dad has chopped some wood at 1 and a half foot and is going to bring a bag of hay for the stuffing; ready for the girls to assemble their creations. Fairy knows what clothes she is planning on using and Pirate needs to work out what she wants her scarecrow to wear tomorrow.
Fun, Fun, Fun, tomorrow they have 2 and a half hours / 1 hour dancing, Thursday Brownies / Theatre workshop, Friday Swimming doesn't finish till 7. Saturday they have dancing and a birthday party to go to. Then Sunday is Birthday and the show itself. She is adamant that she wants to go round wearing a big badge so that everyone will know it is her Birthday.
Not enough hours in the day.
Fun, Fun, Fun PS Their potatoes are growing quite nicely (Autumn show) but we haven't yet planted the sunflower seeds - I'll have to add that to the list.

I don't think that I'll be able to plant any of my dahlia seeds for a while (who knows could be wrong). Family circumstances changed and so have our priorities. Realistically I don't think I'll be able to fit it all in. HH has suggested that we don't do the show on Sunday but I said that the girls would be disappointed if they don't, especially the one whose Birthday is the same day and wants to walk round with a big 'It's my Birthday' badge on. He suggested going (so she can still wear her badge) but not spending all the time making, baking and decorating the cup cakes and decorating the Humpty boiled eggs etc. I think that the girls would be very unhappy about that especially the Birthday girl who has been ultra looking forward to it; every single time she talks to anyone about the show (and that's a lot of people) it is always prefixed with 'It's my Birthday on show day.
Also tell that to the 2 scarecrows lying in our lounge that the girls have started but not yet finished.
Even if the girls do enter the show, not sure if my Mum and Dad will be able to fit a visit to the show in with everything else but knowing my Dad he'll do everything he can (especially as he was helper with the scarecrow) n.b. As I've mentioned before the scarecrows and other entries have to be the children's but he was the one helping them hold the drill to make the holes in the rock hard swedes so that they can fit on the mini planks of the each scarecrow's spine.

That would be a shame for the girls, but priorities do have to change from time to time, that's life. I hope the girls will understand even though they will be disappointed.

Its a shame.....but they have to learn that they can't have everything/do everything they want. I know that when you explain the situation to them, they will understand. I don't envy you having to juggle with work, the home, the children...oh....and the husband...keeping everyone happy...including yourself.....going to the show and wearing a birthday badge is better than nothing at all........hope there are not too many tantrums.......xx

Can't remember her last one. (I hope that I don't put the mockers on that). I am lucky because I only work 2 days a week and my wonderful husband cooks. As a child growing up I used to love my Mum's roast dinners but nothing could ever beat HH's Christmas Dinner. His roast potatoes and roast parsnips are absolutely wonderful. Seriously they are that good. In our family the girls and I are vegetarians and HH isn't. I don't know how he does it but he puts up with me, the girls and my dahlias. Respect where it is due it is HH that does the most juggling, in our family. HH has always been very supportive. My sister is in hospital at the moment and life is v. stressful but he is there for me, for us.
I am very lucky. (I am going to shut up now before it sounds very slushy).

Busy busy day today. Both girls had dance lessons, an emergency trip to our local town horticultural society shop to get the information sheet on how to make a fairy house on a plate for tomorrows show. Managed to squeeze lunch in somewhere, baked 6 cup cakes each, go to a child's Birthday party, go visit my Sister, a last minute trip to tescos, followed by baking another batch of cup cakes because the 1st lot sank. See exhibit A Then straight to bed. Exhibit A, pink cased and yellow cased cupcakes 1st attempt that sunk.
p.s. 2nd batch much better.

We are not going to try and do all the classes but I am hoping that we can get the cakes decorated - we've got loads of stuff to use.
I am going to go boil some hard boiled eggs. In case we have time
but really would like to try and get the scarecrows finished - and the girls do to.
HH is looking forward to the show being over.......................................
but I can understand that.

I do hope your sister is on the mend now. I think you will work around it Moonlight and your parents will be amazing and probably make the show as well visiting your sister. It all happens at once with everyone doesn't it?
